Glenn Beck is warning that political movements presented as grassroots may in some cases be driven by organized networks of nonprofits, foreign funding and taxpayer-supported institutions, pointing specifically to the Democratic Socialists of America and what he described as a broader system of unelected political influence.
Beck said the DSA should not be viewed as an entirely organic movement and compared it with past criticism directed at the Tea Party.
"You're being played. The DSA is not something that is grassroots and organic. Remember when they used to always say Tea Party's not grassroots? Really, really, where's our funding coming from? Because it was coming from nowhere. You know, we had like two sticks to rub together and 25 cents between all of us, and that wasn't grassroots. That was AstroTurf," Beck said.
He argued that the DSA represents the kind of coordinated political operation that critics once accused the Tea Party of being.

"You know what Astroturf is? DSA, and I'm going to show it to you tomorrow, because we have Data Republican on it," Beck said.
Beck highlighted a new book from Data Republican titled "Unelected," which he said examines how people outside elected government can nevertheless influence public policy, political movements, and daily life.
"Data Republican has written a new book. It's called Unelected, and this is how all of these unelected people are actually influencing your life and convincing you that this is the movement, and it's not, and it's global," Beck said.
During their discussion, Beck asked when Data Republican became convinced that techniques associated with so-called color revolutions overseas were also being used domestically.

"Listen, we have been financing color revolutions, and I've been talking about them for a long time. When did you figure out that, or what convinced you that color revolutions were happening here? That those people were doing it on us," Beck asked.
Data Republican said the organizational structure looked familiar because of the use of civic networks and nongovernmental organizations that can mobilize protests quickly.
"Because it's set up the exact same way. You finance civic networks, which are NGOs, obviously, and they're ready to protest at a moment's notice, and they're independently financed, quote unquote," Data Republican said.
She argued that the term "independent" can obscure the underlying sources of funding.

"But what they mean by independence is not what we mean by independently financed. This independence is the same financing through USAID and through foreign governments, and they call it independent because it's business, I guess," she said.
Data Republican also pointed to protest imagery, arguing that symbols used by Black Lives Matter resemble imagery used in earlier international protest movements.
"Remember BLM, the fist. You know the black fist. Remember that? It's the exact same logo of color revolutions that started the Autopor revolution. The same symbol, the same exact symbol. They copy it for revolutions all around the world in different countries; you see, it's the same logo," she said.
Beck then asked whether she believed the system was primarily American or part of a wider Western network.
"So is it just America that is doing this, or is it the entire Western world?" Beck asked.
Data Republican identified the National Endowment for Democracy as a major institution in the United States and also pointed to Open Society-related organizations and George Soros.
"The top is NED here in America, the National Endowment for Democracy. Quote democracy and open societies. That's where Soros comes in. Soros is a big private partner with these two, and I believe that some Western governments have some involvement. I'm sure the UN as well, but mostly it's here in America, and it is American tax dollars and Soros together and those other organizations that he pours into," she said.
Beck said he plans to present additional material tracing how money can move through domestic and international organizations before affecting political activity elsewhere.
"This is one of the more evil things on tomorrow's program. You are going to see that we take that further. We show you how it might start here, get funding from tax dollars, but it goes all the way to foreign nations financing things in other countries. That ends up here intentionally," Beck said.
He argued that lawmakers should examine whether existing laws adequately address the influence of these networks.
"You are not going to believe that this is legal. I personally think the laws need to be changed," Beck said.
Beck said his team planned to send the material to the White House and to senators he believed would review it.
"We're inviting the White House. We're going to send it to the White House as we prepare to do it, so they will have a copy of it. We'll send this out to senators that you know will watch and pay attention to this," Beck said.
He closed by warning that political imagery, protests and public demonstrations can be shaped by organizations that operate outside direct electoral accountability.
"You are being ruled by unelected people, and they are all the world is but a stage. They are creating images and propaganda and parades and marches and protests everywhere, everywhere," Beck said.
He pointed to France as another example of what he believes is a political movement being sustained by the same kinds of networks.

"France is a great example of it. Right now, what's happening in France? That's not real. It started real with the teenagers a few years. What's happening now is not real, and it's funded by the same people who are funding that same stuff in our country."
