Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is turning up the heat on the Secret Service after a whistleblower revealed shocking security lapses during an attempted attack on former President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course.

In a letter addressed to Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, Hawley demanded answers regarding alleged “vulnerabilities” in the security detail around Trump’s golfing grounds that may have played a role in the nearly deadly breach, as reported by Fox News.

The whistleblower, who reportedly has firsthand knowledge of Secret Service operations at Trump’s golf club, alerted Hawley’s office to gaps in the perimeter defenses. The individual revealed that known vulnerable spots along the course, which typically have agents stationed, were left unguarded when Trump played the course on September 15th. This breach reportedly allowed the would-be assailant, Ryan Routh, to linger near the fence line for nearly 12 hours without intervention.

In his letter, Hawley outlined the details shared by the whistleblower.

“They normally station agents there ahead of Trump’s appearance on the course, but they apparently did not do that this last weekend. The whistleblowers tell me that’s strange. That’s out of protocol. It’s not even clear the Secret Service swept the perimeter before Trump took to the course, which is also a breach of protocol. They want to know why, and so do I. I think the Secret Service deserves to give us answers,” as reported by the Gateway Pundit.

Routh, a convicted felon with a firearm and an obliterated serial number, was apprehended by Secret Service agents on September 15th. He now faces federal charges, and additional charges may be pending. Hawley is pressing for an investigation into why security measures failed so catastrophically and why Trump’s location was left so vulnerable.

Despite not sitting on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which is probing two recent attempts on Trump’s life, Hawley has been conducting his own inquiry into the security breaches.

In a Fox News interview with Jesse Watters, Hawley emphasized the alarming nature of the situation, remarking, “The Secret Service has guarded this course many times. They know where the vulnerabilities are.”

The Senator is demanding answers from the Secret Service on several key points, including whether the perimeter was swept, if agents were stationed at vulnerable locations, and if any surveillance was used to monitor the area. Hawley’s letter highlights a broader concern that these lapses may indicate deeper issues within the Secret Service’s protection protocols.

With the threat to Trump’s safety becoming an increasingly pressing concern, Hawley and other GOP lawmakers are calling for transparency and accountability from the agency.

Dan Bongino raised a serious concern: could someone within the Secret Service or DHS be intentionally compromising Trump’s security? This unsettling question comes as mounting pressure builds on the agency to explain how such glaring security failures could happen.
