On Sunday, yet another disturbing attempt was made on the life of former President Donald Trump. A man, Ryan Wesley Routh, was caught by Secret Service agents aiming a scoped rifle near one of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf courses.

This is the second attempt in just over two months, following a July incident where a bullet came dangerously close to Trump’s head, as reported by Trending Politics News.

Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and popular conservative commentator, raised serious concerns about the possibility of a mole within the Secret Service or Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

I have to ask you all a really troubling question now that I promised you 10 years ago I would have called myself nuts for asking this, but is there a mole in the Secret Service or DHS?” Bongino asked during his Monday broadcast. He underscored how troubling it was that Routh knew Trump’s golf outing—a last-minute decision—was happening at all, as it wasn’t on the official schedule, known as an “off-the-record movement.”

The suspect, Routh, was found about 300 yards from Trump’s location. His presence was quickly spotted, and he was later identified and apprehended after an eyewitness recognized both Routh and his vehicle.

Interestingly, Routh has a troubling background. He traveled to Ukraine in 2022, recruiting foreign fighters from various nations, including Afghanistan and Pakistan, for the Ukrainian army. His social media history shows clear anti-Trump sentiment, and he donated to the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020.

Bongino went on “What makes me even more curious about what happened yesterday is apparently the decision to golf was made at the last minute. Meaning, there were probably – when the decision was made, less than 10 people who knew about it. How’d this guy know to set up there?”

Adding to the chilling nature of the event is Bongino’s knowledge of other cases involving foreign operatives who infiltrate federal agencies. He cited a specific example of two men who impersonated federal agents as part of an elaborate plot involving the Secret Service. Bongino suggested that a “honeypot” trap could be at play, where a Secret Service agent or DHS employee may be compromised through personal relationships with foreign agents.

The veteran agent had previously warned that Trump’s life was still at risk after the July assassination attempt, which claimed the life of retired firefighter Corey Comperatore and left others wounded.

Bongino had warned lawmakers that security vulnerabilities within the Secret Service were not being addressed, making future attempts inevitable. His frustration continued as he criticized outdated technology, a focus on woke “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) initiatives, and a failure to implement modern surveillance methods, like drones.
