Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s reelection campaign spent nearly $50,000 on upscale hotel accommodations during a seven-month stretch, even as the New York Democrat continued railing against wealthy Americans. Federal Election Commission records show $47,000 spread across 45 hotel charges nationwide since April.

Every one of the 45 stays was at a property classified by industry rankings as luxury, upscale, or upper upscale. The hotel bills covered Ocasio-Cortez’s entire campaign team and may have included several rooms across multiple nights.

The biggest disclosed bill was $5,044 at The Memphian, a boutique hotel in Memphis offering spa services and an extravagant rooftop bar with an animal theme. Rooms at the property generally range from roughly $200 to $600 per night.

The campaign also recorded bills of $1,599 and $2,694 at The Candler Hotel in Atlanta. The four-star hotel features an acclaimed restaurant and occupies a historic landmark tower, with nightly room prices ranging from $130 to $600.

Another $2,274 went to The Talbott, a four-star hotel located in Chicago’s trendy Gold Coast neighborhood. Rooms there typically cost between $200 and $400 per night.

In Manhattan, the campaign spent $530.46 at the upscale Thompson Central Park hotel. The property advertises “jaw-dropping” views and offers rooms costing as much as $1,852 per night.

The campaign also paid $318 to the Hyatt Seville NoMad on 29th Street. Both Manhattan properties were rated within the luxury tier, adding another layer of plush accommodations to the democratic socialist’s nationwide political travels.

The travel comes as Ocasio-Cortez uses her prominent standing on the left to support Democratic candidates before the November midterm elections. She is also building her own political influence while considering a presidential campaign in 2028.

Republicans seized on the luxury spending. Anthony Constantino, a North Country businessman and Republican running for outgoing Rep. Elise Stefanik’s seat in the 21st House District, has put $7 million of his own fortune into that contest.

Constantino accused Democrats of enjoying donor funds while condemning wealth. “All Democrats want to do is take donor money and buy nice things for themselves. AOC is a con artist,” Constantino charged.

Joseph Hernandez, a Republican candidate for state comptroller, also blasted Ocasio-Cortez’s spending. Hernandez fled Cuba with his parents and later built a successful career leading healthcare firms.

“She’s a champagne communist,” Hernandez said. “I grew up in an actual communist country, where the people in charge lived like kings while everyone else waited in line for bread,” he said.

“Donor or taxpayer money, they spend it like it’s their own,” Hernandez added. His criticism came as the filings also revealed significant campaign spending on luxury car and chauffeur services.

Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign paid $1,791 to Golden Class Limo, a driving service based in Queens, and $659 to Singh Car Service, which is based in Northern Virginia. The campaign also spent $1,257 on Sleek Shuttle Service in Memphis and $1,406 on Blacklane chauffeur service.

The congresswoman, who represents parts of The Bronx and Queens, has raised more than $37 million this year for her congressional campaign alone. That haul includes $24 million from donors who contributed less than $200.

Campaign records show that Ocasio-Cortez’s operation spent or transferred approximately $24 million this year and retained almost $18 million in cash on hand. The figures reveal an operation with substantial resources as it finances travel, accommodations, and other campaign activity.

Ocasio-Cortez previously drew controversy in 2021 when she attended the Met Gala wearing a glittering gown bearing the phrase “Tax The Rich.” The House Ethics Committee later faulted her for failing to comply with its gift regulations.

That finding involved her acceptance of more than $3,700 in rented clothing and other items connected to the appearance. A representative for Ocasio-Cortez did not return a request for comment Friday regarding the campaign’s latest spending.
