A reported fistfight turned preparations for Netflix’s “The Gentlemen” into sudden chaos as the cast worked on the series’ third season. Theo James was among those present when the confrontation erupted before filming began.

James, 41, plays Eddie Horniman in Guy Ritchie’s hit series. He and his co-stars were preparing to shoot a fishing scene at West Wycombe Park House in Buckinghamshire, England, when “all hell broke loose,” a source told the Sun Friday.

The altercation reportedly involved two men who work on the production. According to the source, the confrontation escalated quickly and caught the people around them completely by surprise.

“Two of the blokes who work on the production started going at it, and one of them ended up getting whacked in the face,” the source told the outlet. “Everyone was just standing there shocked because it all suddenly erupted out of nowhere.”

The source said the men were eventually separated. One of them appeared to have suffered a cut lip during the confrontation, and the source described the entire episode as “barmy.”

James was reportedly as confused as everyone else watching the fight unfold. The source said the actor appeared “totally bemused” by the unscripted violence that erupted before cameras started rolling.

“They are used to violent scenes, but it is all acting. No one had expected a bust-up before the cameras started rolling,” the source explained while describing the reaction among those on the set.

Page Six contacted representatives for the show seeking comment about the reported confrontation. The outlet did not immediately receive a response.

“The Gentlemen” premiered on Netflix in March 2024. Its second season debuted last month, while work was already underway on the next installment of the crime drama series.

A Netflix representative previously confirmed to Page Six that the series had been renewed for a third season. That confirmation came before Season 2 began streaming.

Away from the reported set confrontation, the series has also attracted attention over speculation involving Meghan Markle. She was previously said to be in talks for an unknown role in Season 3 ahead of her and Prince Harry’s return to the UK.

Netflix boss Manda Levin fueled the speculation during the Edinburgh TV Festival in August. When asked about rumors surrounding the Duchess of Sussex and a possible return to acting, Levin said: “All bets are off.”

James later joked about the casting conversation during an interview with Town & Country. Asked about the possibility of a former royal joining the series, he replied, “Yes, Fergie is joining,” referring to Sarah Ferguson.

Ferguson is the former wife of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. James continued the joke by saying she would “play [his] love interest.”

The “Divergent” actor then dismissed the Markle speculation as “mainly a lot of hot air,” adding, “At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on Season 2, and then Season 3 will happen soon.”

Sources later told Page Six Hollywood that Markle, 45, had never actually been offered a role, although she had spoken with the casting director once. “She took it as an offer. And it wasn’t,” one source said.

That source added, “And [she and Prince Harry] thought it would be helpful in the moment for there to be a reason for their move.” Another source said the interest in casting Markle had largely come from Ritchie, 58, himself.
