WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Chris Rabb opposed incarceration while demanding prison for people he called “lawless MAGA thugs.”
- Rabb acknowledged that his position could appear hypocritical but immediately doubled down.
- He also called for Congress to impeach and subpoena people he accused of damaging democracy.
Congressional candidate and state representative Chris Rabb declared his opposition to incarceration, then carved out one glaring exception for people he branded “lawless MAGA thugs.” Rabb, one of several candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, also used profanity while referring to supporters of President Donald Trump.
Rabb began by arguing that incarceration levels in the United States are morally wrong and represent bad policy. His objection quickly gave way to a demand that his chosen targets be locked up.
Rabb said:
“I believe the country that represents 5% of the world population but 25% of the people put in cages is morally wrong. It’s also bad policy, but I will make an exception for all of those f—ers who are lawless MAGA thugs, who have destroyed lives and communities.”

“Lock all of those f-ckers up. I know that seems a little hypocritical of me being on the left and being anti-incarceration, but lock those f-ckers up.”
The statement placed Rabb’s professed opposition to incarceration directly beside his demand for imprisonment when the targets are people he associates with MAGA. Rabb himself acknowledged that the position could sound hypocritical coming from someone on the left who describes himself as opposed to incarceration.
Rabb did not back away after recognizing the apparent contradiction. Instead, he immediately doubled down and asked the audience to forgive what he called his possible weakness.
“I hope you all will forgive me in my, perhaps, weakness. It’s not vengefulness, but right is right.”

He then framed his argument around what he described as a level playing field. Rabb compared the incarceration of mothers over school district changes with the prospect of jail time for Jared Kushner.
“We should have a level playing field. If there are moms who are going to jail because they changed what school district they are in so that their kids could get a better education, and they get locked up, you better believe a Jared Kushner should be experiencing some jail time.”
Rabb closed that portion of his remarks by suggesting that his position might make him conservative, while insisting that a message needed to be sent.
“So, if that makes me a conservative, gosh, but we need to send a message.”
Chris Rabb: “I’m a decarceration person, I believe the country that represents 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the people put in cages is morally wrong, but I will make an exception for all of those fuckers who are lawless MAGA thugs who have destroyed lives and communities. Lock all of those fuckers up. If there are moms who are going to jail because they changed what school district they are so their kids could get a better education, you better believe a Jared Kushner should be experiencing some jail time”

His comments did not stop with demands for incarceration. Rabb also called for Congress to use impeachment and subpoenas against people he accused of damaging the country’s political system.
He urged Congress to impeach and subpoena people “who are destroying what’s left of our fragile democracy.”
Rabb is among several candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America who won Democratic primaries during this cycle. The state representative is now running for Congress while openly embracing an exception to his stated opposition to incarceration for people he condemns as MAGA supporters.
The White House offered a sharply different response through spokeswoman Anna Kelly. She described the comments as another example of Democrats attacking the president while obstructing his agenda.
Kelly told Fox News, “Trump-deranged Democrats have no agenda except to lob unhinged attacks against the president and obstruct the agenda he was elected to implement. This person is clearly disturbed and should seek help.”
Rabb’s own words left little ambiguity about the carveout he is willing to make from his anti-incarceration position. He called the country’s incarceration record morally wrong, admitted his demand might appear hypocritical, and then repeatedly demanded that the people he called “lawless MAGA thugs” be locked up.
