The Department of Justice announced charges Monday against 16 people accused of election crimes, including an illegal alien and several lawful permanent residents accused of voting in federal elections despite not being United States citizens.

The cases involve alleged voting by aliens, voting more than once, attempting to cast a ballot for a deceased person, and making false citizenship statements connected to voter registration. The allegations cover elections held in 2022 and 2024, while some defendants allegedly voted across far longer periods.

In the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Hacina Saadi, 48, was identified as an illegal alien from France and charged with voting by an alien. She is accused of casting a ballot during the 2024 election.

Three lawful permanent residents were also charged in that district over alleged voting during the 2024 election. They are Pakistani nationals Jamil Ahmad, 50, and Nighat Jamil, 47, along with Portuguese national Paulo Silva, 54.

Cuban national Andre’s Garcia, 64, a lawful permanent resident, was charged with two counts of illegally voting in federal elections in November 2022 and November 2024. Garcia allegedly claimed to be a citizen when registering in 2004 and 2013, then voted in at least 15 elections over 20 years, including at least 13 federal elections.

Forrest Scott Woody, 68, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, was charged with illegally voting more than once. According to the indictment, Woody voted in Calhoun County, Alabama, during the 2024 general election after already voting in the same election in Henderson County, North Carolina.

Canadian national Stanley Walton, 82, a lawful permanent resident, was charged with unlawfully voting in the 2022 general election. Walton allegedly cast a ballot even though he was not a citizen.

Lizabeth Almonte Rosa, 24, a naturalized citizen from the Dominican Republic, was charged by criminal complaint with voting by an alien in a federal election and unlawfully procuring citizenship. Court documents and statements indicate Rosa was not a citizen when she was registered to vote.

British national Cary Ann Patterson, 59, a lawful permanent resident, was charged with illegally voting as an alien in a federal election. A complaint alleges Patterson voted in November 2024, while Gallia County Board of Elections records allegedly show she voted in at least 10 elections as an alien.

According to court documents, the Gallia County Board of Elections received a voter registration card for Patterson in 2005. The card had Yes marked in response to the question asking whether she was a United States citizen.

Canadian national Sandra Madeline Watson, 59, another lawful permanent resident, was charged with illegal voting by an alien in a federal election. Watson allegedly voted in an election for federal offices while knowing she was not a citizen.

The announcement lands as Democrats and establishment Republicans continue opposing the SAVE America Act. That measure would require proof of citizenship to register for federal elections and photo identification when voting, requirements supported by a broad consensus of Americans in polls cited by Breitbart News.

The 16 cases put a stark spotlight on election safeguards that opponents of stronger citizenship verification routinely dismiss. The charges include allegations involving multiple ballots, deceased voters, false citizenship claims, and aliens casting ballots in federal elections.
