Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing yet another run-in with law enforcement in his home state of California.
The 86-year-old is being charged with a misdemeanor hit and run after deputies say he struck a parked car in Napa County and then drove away until his own vehicle broke down.
According to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred Friday afternoon in the town of Yountville, located about an hour north of San Francisco.
A witness reported seeing a brown convertible collide with an unoccupied vehicle and then continue north without stopping.

Deputies soon found the damaged convertible abandoned near the roadway.
The driver was identified as Paul Pelosi.
Investigators said Pelosi admitted that he realized he had hit something but claimed that he did not know what it was.
The car was disabled not long after, forcing him to stop.

Authorities say alcohol was not a factor this time.
“The investigation also determined that no alcohol was detected upon testing, therefore Driving Under the Influence was ruled out,” the sheriff’s office stated.
Pelosi’s preliminary alcohol test came back with a zero result.
Deputies concluded that Pelosi was at fault in the collision.
He was not arrested at the scene, which the sheriff's office described as standard procedure for a misdemeanor property-damage crash.
Prosecutors in the Napa County District Attorney’s Office will now decide whether to move forward with formal charges.
The sheriff’s office also said it will submit a driver re-evaluation referral to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, a process commonly used when elderly drivers are involved in accidents.
At 86, Pelosi’s driving record is attracting renewed scrutiny.
A spokesperson for the Pelosi family said Paul Pelosi “has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage.”
The statement added that “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”
The crash rekindles attention on a familiar issue for the Pelosi family.
In 2022, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving causing injury following another crash in nearly the same area.

That earlier accident seriously injured another driver and resulted in Pelosi receiving probation, fines, an ignition interlock device for his car, and time in jail, though most of that was credited to time served.
In that earlier case, Pelosi was sentenced to three years of probation, five days in jail, a three-month DUI education course, and restitution to the victim.
The penalty was seen by many as a slap on the wrist given the severity of the crash.
Critics accused California prosecutors of showing leniency because of his political connections.
It now appears that Paul Pelosi’s time behind the wheel continues to create problems, even without alcohol involved.
While authorities insist that he was cooperative and sober, critics are asking why another Napa County incident involving a Pelosi results in yet another quiet, carefully managed process.
WATCH:
The case has once again put the Pelosi name back in headlines for reasons the family certainly does not appreciate.
Nancy Pelosi continues to hold her congressional seat representing San Francisco, a district she has dominated for decades.
But with her husband’s repeated legal entanglements, the image of the powerful Pelosi duo has taken a noticeable hit.
Paul Pelosi’s life has hardly been out of the news in recent years.
In 2022, he was the victim of a brutal hammer attack inside the couple’s San Francisco home.
The attacker, David DePape, claimed he was looking for Nancy Pelosi.
That assault left Paul Pelosi with a fractured skull and other injuries, and it became a national story used by Democrats to amplify talk about political violence.
DePape was later convicted in both state and federal court, receiving decades-long prison sentences.
The violence was horrific, but it also kept the Pelosi family under the national spotlight for months.
Now another case involving Paul Pelosi’s driving habits brings the attention back for all the wrong reasons.
For many Californians, the story raises old frustrations about double standards in the justice system.
A working-class senior who hit a parked car and left the scene would likely face immediate arrest.
Yet the husband of a long-serving Democratic lawmaker appears to get polite deference and soft handling.
The sheriff’s office says that is standard policy, but observers find it difficult to imagine ordinary citizens receiving the same treatment.
The report from Napa County states that prosecutors will review the case before deciding how to proceed.
If charges move forward, Pelosi could face fines and a possible suspension of his license, particularly given his age and prior record.
The DMV re-evaluation could also result in restrictions or a revocation of his driving privileges altogether.
Whether or not the case results in prosecution, the incident is another reminder that the Pelosi political brand continues to attract controversy even when the Speaker herself insists she has nothing to do with her husband’s behavior.
The optics of another Napa County collision involving Paul Pelosi are not helping restore confidence in those who believe the political elite live by a different set of rules.
