Canadian jetmaker Bombardier announced Friday that it is expanding its American operations through an initial $270 million investment and plans to hire 800 people across Kansas, Texas, Indiana, and Connecticut.
The announcement follows President Donald Trump’s September declaration that Bombardier should not be permitted to sell its planes in the United States unless the company manufactures them domestically. The latest investment gives Trump a major business development to tout.
“Bombardier is expanding its presence across the country, hiring 800 people for jobs located in its home base of Kansas as well as Texas, Indiana, and Connecticut,” the company said in a press release obtained by FOX Business.
“This strategy includes an initial phase of investment estimated at $270M earmarked for infrastructure growth,” Bombardier added. The company described the move as an expansion in America that will create thousands of jobs.

Bombardier president and CEO Eric Martel said the company considers its American service network an important component of its broader plans for growth.
“Our American service network is a key pillar of Bombardier's growth strategy. This new wave of expansion and hiring reflects our long-term confidence in this market and our employees in America,” Martel said.
Martel also pointed to discussions with the Trump administration while outlining the company’s outlook for its operations and aerospace employees in the United States.
“Based on our constructive conversations with the U.S. administration, we see a bright path forward for our highly skilled aerospace workers as well as a positive environment for Bombardier to continue pursuing direct investments to grow our American footprint,” he said.

The company is actively recruiting for 500 positions across the United States and intends to create another 300 jobs through projects designed to expand its physical footprint. Texas is expected to receive 150 of those 300 new jobs.
Additional hiring will be spread across Bombardier’s American home base in Kansas, along with operations in Indiana and Connecticut. The investment therefore reaches several states rather than concentrating the expansion in one location.
Trump revealed the investment late Thursday on Truth Social while praising Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas for his representation of the state.
“Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas has done an incredible job in representing his Great State!” Trump wrote. “Companies are coming to America, investing BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, and creating JOBS like never before.”
TRUMP: Bombardier is investing $270 MILLION in Kansas, Texas, and Indiana.
He gave the credit to Sen. Roger Marshall and Texas AG Ken Paxton for getting the deal done. Bombardier already employs 1,500 people in Wichita. Marshall fought for those jobs, and now more investment is headed to America. That's what a senator who delivers looks like. Bombardier also highlighted its Learning Center in Wichita, Kansas, as one part of the company’s broader investment in the city. The new North American Learning Center was inaugurated last week.
According to Bombardier, the center strengthens its commitment to developing talent, expanding capabilities, and supporting continued growth at its Kansas operations. The facility adds another piece to the company’s expanding American presence.
Bombardier’s newest American service facility is located at Fort Wayne International Airport in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The approximately 64,500-square-foot operation can accommodate as many as six aircraft.
The Indiana facility will provide scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications, avionics installations, and AOG support, meaning aircraft on-ground support. Bombardier also plans to begin new footprint expansion projects in Dallas, Texas, and Connecticut.
The company’s American operations already supported 27,200 jobs in 2025 across its service and manufacturing facilities and throughout a broad supply chain. Bombardier said it spent $2.8 billion within that supply chain.
The newly announced jobs and infrastructure spending significantly build upon those existing operations. With recruiting underway and additional facilities planned, Bombardier is putting real money and hiring muscle behind its commitment to expand in the United States.
