A Fox News report is drawing renewed scrutiny to Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, after financial disclosures showed a dramatic increase in her household’s reported assets over a single year, prompting an ethics investigation by the House Oversight Committee.

During a Fox News segment, correspondent Nate Foy detailed the changes in Omar’s disclosed finances, focusing on the growth of assets tied to her husband’s business ventures.

“This woman Ilhan Omar's net worth went up nearly $30 million the question is, how?” Foy said.

“Here's what we know. Omar's husband, a former political consultant, owns a venture capital firm based in Washington, DC, and a winery in California.”

Foy pointed to Omar’s congressional financial disclosures to illustrate the scale of the increase.

“Take a look at these numbers. In 2023 Omar disclosed a maximum of $50,000 in assets at the winery. The next year, Dana, that number increased to $5 million,” he said.

He also highlighted changes tied to Omar’s husband’s venture capital firm.

“Meanwhile, her husband's company, Rose Lake Capital, reported a maximum of $1,000 in assets in 2023; the next year, it was 25 million,” Foy said.

Despite the sharp increase, Omar previously rejected claims that she is wealthy.

Foy noted that earlier this year, she addressed the issue on social media.

“Despite that, Omar denied being a millionaire earlier this year, posting on X quote, I barely have 1000s, let alone millions,” he said.

The financial disclosures have prompted action from congressional investigators. Foy reported that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer confirmed an inquiry is underway.

“House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer tells Fox News An investigation is underway, writing quote, the committee is working on addressing ethics concerns regarding representative Omar and her spouse, and we hope to have an update soon,” Foy said.

Omar, however, has pushed back on the allegations and said she is being unfairly targeted. In a video clip aired during the segment, she addressed the ongoing scrutiny.

“Ever since I've gotten to Congress, they have been doing these sort of weird ethics investigations,” Omar said.

“None of them have yielded anything because I have been as transparent as I can be.”

Foy reported that criticism of Omar has also come from high-profile figures outside Congress.

“Of course, others see it differently,” he said.

“Elon Musk says Omar committed fraud while President Donald Trump posted on truth social quote, she should be in jail or even a worse punishment, sent back to Somalia.”

The report also revisited Omar’s legislative record, noting her role in pandemic-era food assistance policy.

“Omar authored the meals act in 2020 which loosened oversight on food programs during covid,” Foy said.

“Federal prosecutors say one of those programs feeding our future stole $250 million through fake meal sites.”

The Feeding Our Future case, centered in Minnesota, has become one of the largest pandemic-related fraud prosecutions in the country, with federal authorities alleging widespread abuse of taxpayer-funded meal programs intended to serve children during COVID-19 school closures.

Foy concluded by noting that Fox News sought comment from Omar regarding the latest disclosures and investigation.

“We did reach out to Omar as part of this story,” he said.

“But so far, we have not heard back.”
