Comedian Jon Stewart strongly criticized President-elect Donald Trump during Monday’s episode of The Daily Show over a social media post promoting Trump’s fragrance line.
The post featured a viral photo of First Lady Jill Biden seemingly looking admiringly at Trump during their recent visit to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
The viral moment occurred during the reopening of the iconic cathedral on Saturday, where Trump attended alongside Jill Biden and other world leaders.

Shortly afterward, Trump shared a humorous advertisement on X (formerly Twitter) for his fragrance line, using the photo of him and Jill Biden.
The caption on Trump’s post read: “Here are my new Trump Perfumes & Colognes! I call them Fight, Fight, Fight, because they represent us WINNING. Great Christmas gifts for the family. Go to gettrumpfragrances.com/. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!” Beneath the photo, the tagline added: “A fragrance your enemies can’t resist!”

Jon Stewart, however, was not amused. Opening Monday’s show, Stewart condemned the post, calling it inappropriate for someone preparing to take office.
“Trump was apparently traveling with his predecessor’s wife, attending the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral with Jill Biden,” Stewart said during his monologue. “It was a rare moment of conciliation. One that would have given this country hope had it not been immediately undermined by the returning president releasing an actual cologne ad belittling and sexualizing said moment.”
Stewart’s frustration escalated as he continued: “You won! You won! You don’t have to push merch anymore. I find it hard to believe I’m saying this, but it’s beneath you.”
The fragrance promotion marks another instance of Trump leveraging viral moments to market his brand.
Trump’s team has frequently used social media to amplify campaign messaging and promote personal projects, blending political communication with commercial endeavors.
As for the viral photo itself, it has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Some interpreted Jill Biden’s expression as a lighthearted or admiring glance, while others argued it was simply taken out of context.
The image has since been shared across multiple platforms, further fueling debate about its appropriateness for marketing purposes.
Neither Jill Biden nor Joe Biden has publicly addressed the post or its implications.
The Bidens were in Paris to attend the cathedral’s reopening ceremony alongside international dignitaries, including President-elect Trump.
Trump’s fragrance promotion continues to draw mixed reactions, with supporters lauding the humor and detractors questioning its taste.
For now, the viral moment remains emblematic of Trump’s unconventional approach to politics, blending humor, branding, and controversy in equal measure.
