In a recent interview with Kara Swisher on her podcast “On with Kara Swisher,” Hillary Clinton strongly defended Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming Harris doesn’t need to justify her policy positions in interviews.

Clinton wasted no time in calling out what she sees as a double standard, with both voters and the media expecting Harris to do more than male candidates, as reported by Fox News.

“She does not have to do it, Kara. I’m going to just cut to the chase,” Clinton told Swisher, pointing out that Harris has been very clear on her campaign website. “Anybody who’s truly interested can go and read about them,” she added. Clinton emphasized that Harris not only has policies, but also solid plans, reinforcing Harris’ credibility as a serious contender.

Clinton claimed this “double standard” arises from two issues: one being that voters are still getting to know Harris, and the other being that many are still grappling with the notion of a woman as president and commander in chief.

Clinton didn’t shy away from calling out White women voters in particular, saying they are often hesitant about voting for a woman in such a significant role.

Interestingly, data has shown a stark contrast in media exposure between Harris and her opponents. While Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have given only 13 formal interviews since becoming the Democratic ticket, Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance, have participated in over 54 interviews during the same time frame.

Despite Biden bowing out of the race nearly two months ago, Harris has yet to hold a single press conference.

Clinton also shared her thoughts on media coverage of the election during an MSNBC interview with Rachel Maddow. She criticized the media’s inconsistent portrayal of Trump, saying, “The press is still not able to cover Trump the way that they should.”

She argued that journalists fail to maintain a consistent narrative about Trump’s dangers. Citing the late journalist Harry Evans, she stressed that reporters need to focus on Trump’s actions and rhetoric, which she labeled as a threat to both the U.S. and the world.

These remarks come after a second attempt on Trump’s life. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was arrested after allegedly aiming a rifle at Trump from outside Trump International Golf Club in Florida. Routh had previously posted anti-Trump rhetoric on social media, echoing Biden and Harris’ comments about the significance of “Democracy being on the ballot.”

This incident follows another attempt on Trump’s life in July when a gunman fired shots during a rally in Pennsylvania.
