Harry Styles found himself at the center of a tense confrontation with an autograph seeker on a New York City street Wednesday, according to videos obtained by TMZ. The footage captured an encounter that began with the man following the singer and repeatedly trying to attract his attention.

In the first clip, Styles attempted to maintain a low profile while continuing along the street. He wore a hoodie and baseball cap, and he appeared to be listening to music through wired earbuds as the man trailed behind him.

The autograph seeker repeatedly tried to get Styles to acknowledge him, but the Grammy winner did not respond. Styles instead kept walking, apparently focused on moving forward while the man continued attempting to get his attention.

The situation grew more heated when the autograph seeker appeared to scream at Styles and taunt him. Styles initially kept his composure despite the man’s persistence and continued moving through the city without engaging him.

A second video showed that the encounter eventually escalated into a direct argument. Styles and the autograph seeker could be seen yelling while pointing their fingers at each other during the increasingly tense exchange.

It was unclear what Styles and the other man were saying to one another in the footage. The video nevertheless showed a sharp change from Styles’ earlier attempt to ignore the repeated calls and continue on his way.

At one point, a third man stepped between Styles and the autograph seeker. He appeared to be attempting to defuse the tension as the two men faced each other during the confrontation on the street.

The autograph seeker was holding a copy of Styles’ “Fine Line” album during the encounter. His apparent effort to secure an autograph continued even after the argument had broken out and another man had intervened.

When the former One Direction member tried to walk away, the autograph seeker continued following him. The man matched Styles’ stride as the singer moved down the street, keeping close to him rather than remaining behind.

The footage ended while the man was still following Styles, leaving the remainder of the encounter unseen. Page Six reached out to representatives for Styles for comment following the release of the videos.

Styles has frequently been spotted around New York City in recent months. He has often been seen walking from Brooklyn, where his fiancée Zoë Kravitz resides, to Madison Square Garden.

The “Sign of the Times” singer generally attempts to avoid attention by wearing hats and sunglasses during his outings. Despite those efforts to remain unnoticed, he has previously had friendlier interactions with fans and autograph seekers around the city.

The songwriter has been spending considerable time in the Big Apple during his 30 night residency at Madison Square Garden. The run began on Aug. 26 and is scheduled to continue through Halloween.

Styles announced the Madison Square Garden event in January as part of his “Together, Together” tour. The residency has kept him in the city while providing several moments that have attracted headlines beyond his performances.

Those moments have included a cheeky comment about ex Taylor Swift’s wedding and a touching 9/11 tribute. Styles also delivered a surprise tribute to Dolly Parton on the residency’s opening night.
