  • The Marine Corps opened Maven access to all commands and organizations, including the reserves, through any applicable network.
  • Maven combines intelligence reports, drone video, satellite imagery, maps and other data to support decisions in real time.
  • War Department officials said Maven helped identify and bomb more than 2,000 targets in Iran during Operation Epic Fury.
  • About 5,500 Marines used Maven during the month before an August training summit.

The Marine Corps has opened access to the Maven Smart System across its commands and organizations under a new enterprise licensing agreement. The expansion includes the reserves and allows personnel to reach the platform through any applicable network.

The service announced the agreement last week, extending Maven beyond the limited group of commands and organizations previously authorized to use the artificial intelligence enabled battle management system.

“This enterprise licensing provides all assigned and attached personnel at any echelon within the specified commands the ability to gain MSS accounts within those domains they have authorized access,” the service said.

Maven, also known as MSS, is a government owned software platform developed by Palantir. It gathers and analyzes information from multiple feeds to support commanders and analysts making decisions in real time.

Those information feeds include intelligence reports, drone video, satellite imagery, maps and other data. The platform supports intelligence and operational work conducted across military services and among allies.

War Department officials said Maven was used during Operation Epic Fury to identify and bomb more than 2,000 distinct targets in Iran. Those targets were identified and struck within the operation’s first 96 hours.

Officials also said the system processes about 6 million pages of text each day. That volume supports intelligence and operational workflows handled through the platform.

Demand within the Marine Corps was already climbing before the latest licensing agreement. Ahead of a Maven training summit in August, the service said about 5,500 Marines had used the system during the previous month.

The Marine Corps also moved one of its routine reporting processes onto Maven. The service replaced its manual process for filing Situational Reports with an application operating through the platform.

Before the Oct. 1 agreement, the Marine Corps license restricted Maven access to specific commands and organizations. Users also could reach the system only through a Secret Internet Protocol Router Network, commonly known as SIPRNet.

The earlier access framework was reflected in an August 2025 rollout. During that rollout, the Marine Corps provided dozens of units with both access to Maven and training on the system.

The enterprise agreement now makes the platform available more broadly across the service while preserving access controls. Personnel can obtain MSS accounts only within domains they are authorized to access.

Commands are being encouraged to name an MSS implementation lead for their organization. That person would serve as the designated lead as commands move forward with access under the new licensing structure.

The Marine Corps said training materials are available through Intelink, a secure website. Those materials give commands a resource as they prepare personnel to use Maven within authorized domains.

Additional instructions are also expected from the service. The Marine Corps said further guidance, including an MSS Implementation Plan, will be published separately as commands and organizations proceed with adoption.
