Federal immigration enforcement agents raided the Washington, D.C., home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, early Monday morning, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke with Fox News Digital.

The operation was carried out by Homeland Security Investigations, the principal investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. Multiple agents wearing HSI jackets were seen outside Omar’s home during the early morning hours.

The raid stems from a criminal fraud investigation involving immigration paperwork connected to Omar. The paperwork was completed by her late father when she was a child.

Omar was born in Somalia, and the federal investigation focuses on the immigration documents filled out on her behalf during childhood.

Two sources close to the investigation confirmed details of the probe Thursday. Their confirmation followed public comments from White House border czar Tom Homan regarding an investigation involving the progressive congresswoman.

Homan said in mid-September that Omar was the subject of an ongoing “criminal” investigation. The statement placed the existence of the federal inquiry into the public record before agents arrived at her home Monday.

A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations conducted an authorized search in the Washington area as part of a continuing federal investigation.

“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Omar said she had not been made aware of any criminal investigation by the Department of Homeland Security after Homan confirmed the probe. Her statement came amid mounting public attention surrounding the federal inquiry.
