Mike Steger argued that a sweeping political and economic realignment is taking place across the Western Hemisphere, with President Donald Trump’s administration placing energy abundance, national sovereignty and regional security at the center of a new American-led strategy.

Steger pointed first to the G20 energy meeting held in Houston, where Venezuela participated as an invited country.

Venezuela’s government confirmed that its delegation attended the September 14-16 ministerial gathering, which was formally framed around energy abundance rather than the “energy transition” terminology frequently used at international energy meetings.

“Venezuela's participation at the G20 summit in Houston may be remembered as the final nail in the coffin, not just of the climate change delusions, but of the entire globalist cult operating in the Western Hemisphere,” Steger said.

“Trump named it the Energy Abundance Summit.”

Steger portrayed the Houston gathering as evidence that the administration is moving international energy discussions toward greater production and lower energy costs.

He also connected that shift to the Trump administration’s broader approach toward Greenland and Arctic security.

“Then he signed a deal with Greenland for total control and without time limits,” Steger said.

Trump announced an agreement involving the United States, Denmark and Greenland that would expand long-term American security access on the island.

Denmark and Greenland have stressed that the arrangement will preserve Greenland’s sovereignty, while Trump has described the agreement as guaranteeing permanent U.S. security access.

Steger argued that those developments are part of a larger strategy extending from the Arctic through Latin America.

“And while Trump was holding his major midterm convention, Rubio was consolidating the entire Western Hemisphere around one clear principle,” Steger said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio traveled to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru earlier in September for meetings focused in part on counternarcotics cooperation, security and economic ties.

Steger said changes in Latin American politics are increasingly being driven by demands for public safety, economic development and stronger relations with Washington.

“Under the new Trump era, copying this model has become one of the fastest-growing trends in Latin American politics,” Steger said, pointing to El Salvador President Nayib Bukele’s approach to gangs and violent crime as an influence on other governments.

Steger tied that regional political movement to a broader argument about natural resources and economic development.

He said the hemisphere’s oil, natural gas, uranium, lithium, copper, farmland and freshwater reserves make it uniquely positioned to benefit from an energy-intensive growth strategy.

That argument resembles language contained in the Trump administration’s December 2025 National Security Strategy, which says the Western Hemisphere contains strategic resources the United States should develop alongside regional partners.

The document also calls for strengthening supply chains, reducing dependence on outside powers and expanding security and economic partnerships throughout the region.

“So in December of 2025, the Trump administration released its own National Security Strategy, and it said it outright,” Steger said.

“The Western Hemisphere is home to many strategic resources that America should partner with regional allies to develop, to make neighboring countries as well as our own more prosperous.”

The White House has also publicly described the administration’s regional strategy as a “Trump Corollary” to the Monroe Doctrine, saying the United States intends to resist outside powers gaining strategic influence in the hemisphere.

Steger then turned to Brazil, which he characterized as one of the remaining major obstacles to that regional transformation.

“That's why the case of Brazil, the last remaining globalist holdout in South America, may be the next shoe to drop,” Steger said.

Brazil is approaching an October presidential election in which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro are running closely in recent polling.

A BTG/Nexus survey released September 21 showed Lula at 40% and Bolsonaro at 37% in a first-round scenario, while a hypothetical second round showed 46% for Lula and 45% for Bolsonaro, within the poll’s two-point margin of error.

Steger also focused heavily on Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes and the Banco Master scandal.

“The biggest corruption scandal in decades may bring down the entire Supreme Court and President Lula with them,” Steger said.

That claim goes beyond what has been established. Brazil’s Supreme Court has been dealing with a significant institutional controversy involving Banco Master, former banker Daniel Vorcaro and allegations concerning Moraes.

The court postponed a decision on whether to open an investigation of Moraes after questions arose about his relationship with Vorcaro and a lucrative contract involving the law firm headed by Moraes’ wife. Moraes has denied wrongdoing and has characterized efforts targeting him as politically motivated.

Reuters has reported that the contract involving the firm of Moraes’ wife was worth approximately $24 million.

Other Brazilian reporting has documented allegations involving travel on aircraft associated with Vorcaro and communications between the banker and Moraes.

The Banco Master investigation has also reached political figures on multiple sides of Brazil’s political divide.

Flávio Bolsonaro himself is under investigation over allegations involving transactions connected to Vorcaro, allegations he denies.

Steger nevertheless argued that a Brazilian political shift would represent another major step in what he sees as a broader regional realignment.

“Brazil flips, then the globalist holdouts like Canada and Cuba in the Western Hemisphere are going to be mere speed bumps in Trump's plan to rename the region the American Hemisphere,” Steger said.

He concluded that developments involving energy policy, Greenland, Latin American security and Brazil should be viewed as connected pieces of the same administration strategy rather than isolated events.

“The choice all countries face is whether they want to live in an American-led world of sovereign countries and free economies, or in a parallel one in which they are influenced by countries on the other side of the world,” Steger said.

For Steger, the direction of travel is already clear.

“It's one agenda, being executed one country at a time, to the demise of the globalist world order.”
