WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
PatriotDadEV2.0 argued that the latest inflation numbers weaken efforts to convince Americans that prices are spiraling out of control, pointing to core inflation and the economic conditions he says are being experienced by supporters of President Donald Trump and the Republican agenda.
“Yeah, I don't really know how to tell you this, folks, but, it's not working. I'm sorry,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
He argued that Trump’s political opponents had an opportunity to convince Americans that they are worse off than they were two years ago, but said those efforts have failed.
“You had one opportunity to try to convince the American people that they're worse off today than they were two years ago when they elected Donald Trump and the Republicans to take over the House and the Senate, and you failed,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.

He pointed to several issues that Trump’s opponents have focused on before arguing that affordability represented their remaining opportunity to make the case against the current economic environment.
“The only option that you had left, the only lever that you could possibly pull on, is the affordability crisis, to convince people that prices are spinning out of control,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
“The problem for you, though, is that the data doesn't support it.”
PatriotDadEV2.0 focused heavily on the latest Consumer Price Index numbers, arguing that opponents of Trump needed the inflation report to demonstrate that prices were accelerating.

“See, you needed the CPI numbers to prove the point that you've been trying to make, that prices are running out of control, and yet the data from today's release of the CPI, the inflation numbers, show you that it came in exactly like it looked last month,” he said.
He said inflation currently resembles its level in March and argued that the latest numbers did not provide the increase Trump’s opponents needed to bolster their affordability argument.
“You needed it to go up, and yet it didn't,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
He also pointed to gasoline prices, arguing that even elevated seasonal fuel costs had failed to produce the inflation movement that Trump’s opponents needed.
“And what's fascinating about this is despite the fact that gasoline prices are at the highest point they've ever been at this specific time of the year, that still didn't move the needle,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
“And the reason for that is because everything else is coming down.”
PatriotDadEV2.0 then turned to core CPI, describing it as a measure that excludes food, gasoline and energy.
“So, this is what's called the core CPI,” he said.
“Core CPI is a basket of goods that does not include food and gasoline and energy.”
He argued that core CPI has declined consistently over the previous six months and said the latest figure represented its lowest point since 2021.
“And you're going to notice that core CPI has continued to fall every month for the last six months,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
“But you see, this is where the really bad news for them comes, because once you pull out fuel and food from the basket of goods and you look at just the core inflation number, that number came in at the lowest point since 2021.”
PatriotDadEV2.0 also predicted that gasoline would eventually follow the same direction after the conflict with Iran ends.
“And now once this thing in Iran wraps up as soon as the election's over, gasoline is going to do the same thing,” he said.
His argument extended beyond inflation to employment and income.
PatriotDadEV2.0 said the voters who elected Trump and support his agenda are benefiting from a strong job market and income growth that he said is exceeding inflation in food and energy.
“The people that got Donald Trump elected that support his agenda are having the best job market in many of their lives, and their incomes are growing faster than even the rate of inflation in energy and food,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
“It's outpacing the thing that you needed for people to focus on.”
He concluded that the economic conditions experienced by those voters leave Trump’s opponents with little time to successfully make affordability their central argument.
“Instead, the people that are going to go vote for Trump again and his agenda and the Republicans are having some of the best economic success they've ever experienced,” PatriotDadEV2.0 said.
