Spencer Pratt unloaded on George Clooney after the Hollywood star criticized the people running the United States government.

Pratt suggested Clooney should spare Americans the political sermon while he and his wife, Amal Clooney, enjoy the trappings of immense wealth.

The former reality television personality entered politics this year with a Republican campaign for mayor of Los Angeles.

Although Pratt conceded the race in June, he has continued speaking about politics and the wealthy celebrities who regularly lecture ordinary Americans.

Pratt turned his attention to Clooney on Friday in a pointed social media post.

He cited the actor's estimated $500 million fortune and argued that the money spent on Amal's extravagant Venice appearance could have permanently housed eight homeless people.

“I will never tolerate a woke scold lecture from these people. Just be an ostentatious celebrity and own it.”

That blunt assessment captured the glaring contradiction Pratt was targeting.

Hollywood elites seem perfectly comfortable condemning wealth, fear, inequality, and political leadership, provided nobody asks too many questions about their private jets, designer wardrobes, luxury properties, or sparkling jewelry.

That brings the jewelry alone to roughly $374,000, before accounting for the custom gown, travel, accommodations, security, styling, and the rest of the celebrity machinery.

George and Amal Clooney have appeared together several times during the festival, where cameras captured their glamorous arrivals and red carpet walks.

George Clooney also received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the festival's opening night ceremony.

The actor used his acceptance speech to address politics and public fear, rather than simply thanking the people who helped build his career.

Apparently, even a lifetime achievement honor in Venice must become another opportunity for Hollywood's political class to instruct the rest of the country.

“We’re living through a moment in time where people in charge, the people with the most money, are telling us to fear one another,” Clooney said during his speech, according to People.

Clooney argued that journalists and artists are among the first targets of authoritarian governments.

He also portrayed filmmakers, actors, musicians, and writers as defenders of empathy, a familiar Hollywood theme that conveniently casts entertainers as courageous guardians of society.

“Stories are always dangerous to people who peddle in fear. The people who are afraid of books and music and stories are never the heroes in history.”

Clooney acknowledged that movies do not stop wars, reduce inflation, or repair elections.

That admission may have been the most practical portion of the speech, since American families wrestling with grocery bills are unlikely to find much relief in another celebrity monologue delivered beside a Venetian canal.

Before the ceremony, Clooney also discussed American politics during a news conference.

“I’m always very optimistic about things,” he said, before comparing the current political climate with earlier periods of violence and national upheaval.

He referenced 1968, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, widespread unrest, and tanks surrounding the Capitol.

Clooney then described the current government as a kakistocracy, meaning a nation controlled by the least qualified people, and expressed hope that coming elections would restore normalcy.

Pratt's criticism focused less on Clooney's right to speak and more on the obvious hypocrisy surrounding the lecture.

If celebrities want to parade through Venice wearing jewelry worth more than many American homes, they can do so, but the moral scolding may land with all the grace of a Cartier brick.

Fox News Digital contacted Clooney for a response to Pratt's criticism.

Asked about the actor's attack on the current administration, a White House spokesperson offered a concise dismissal that cut through the celebrity pageantry: “Nobody cares.”
