Jeanine Pirro is not known for backing down, and she proved it again this week when the Fox News host turned U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia lit into a pack of reporters who tried to downplay serious vandalism at one of America’s most beloved landmarks, the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall.

At a press conference Thursday, Pirro laid down the law to journalists who seemed more interested in defending a leftist vandal than in holding him accountable for damaging the nation’s capital.

The case centers around David Hearn, a 67-year-old former U.S. Olympic canoeist from Maryland who has been indicted on felony destruction of property charges after allegedly tearing up the new blue sealant on the Reflecting Pool.

Democrats and their media buddies have mocked the project from the start, complaining about Trump-era repairs meant to preserve this symbol of American history.

They claimed resealing and cleaning the Reflecting Pool was somehow wasteful, a theme they also applied to restoration at Columbus Circle by Union Station. That kind of thinking shows exactly how warped their priorities have become.

Pirro made clear that the government is serious about protecting the property.

“The damage is over $1,000,” she stated firmly before a sneering questioner tried to dispute her figure.

When a reporter asked how the government could prove it, Pirro fired back, “With an expert. Come to the trial.”

She then added, “Right now, we believe it’s his bare hands, both hands.”

The exchange grew more heated when reporters tried to imply that damage might already have existed or that the charge was exaggerated.

Pirro was not having any of it.

“Oh, he damaged it,” she said bluntly.

When another journalist kept pressing, Pirro shot back, “Well, good, I’m glad you got that evidence. Come on to the grand jury, you can testify. Next!”

Her command presence reminded many why she has long been a conservative favorite.

She refuses to let the left’s talking points or the mainstream press distort basic facts.

The pool was vandalized.

The repairs cost the taxpayers.

And instead of condemning destruction, leftists have turned the incident into another faux outrage against Trump-era projects.

The so-called “reporters” at the scene were clearly trying to suggest that Pirro was overreacting or politicizing the issue.

One even quoted a left-wing publication calling the restoration “a 14 million dollar waste” that supposedly caused “the worst algae bloom in years.”

The claim was laughable.

The bloom happened due to algae entering while the repair work was under way, not because of heat absorption or some mysterious climate narrative the left cooked up.

Pirro has grown tired of this constant gaslighting. She reminded the assembled press corps that the Reflecting Pool belongs to the American people, not to any political personality.

“It is the nation’s beloved Reflecting Pool,” she clarified after a reporter’s snide reference to “Trump’s pool.”

That distinction matters because liberals have spent years trying to tie every civic effort in Washington to some imagined Trump plot.

For the radical activists cheering the damage, Pirro’s defiance struck a nerve.

The left treats vandalism as “performance art” when it fits their narrative.

But when conservatives stand up for law, order, and American heritage, suddenly the same media mocks them for “overreacting.”

Pirro, a former judge and prosecutor, knows exactly how to handle that double standard.

The attack on the Reflecting Pool isn’t just a random act of protest.

It is part of a larger mindset that despises American symbolism and delights in tearing it down.

From graffiti in Columbus Circle to toppled statues and defaced monuments, this has been the left’s pattern for years.

They love chaos because it distracts from how little they actually offer ordinary citizens.

If President Biden had ever cared enough to preserve American sites, conservatives would have supported the effort.

No one on the right roots for the country’s monuments to rot.

But Democrats choose to cheer vandalism and spin criminal acts as political statements.

It perfectly fits the modern progressive worldview that punishes achievement and glorifies destruction.

At the press event, Pirro’s determination was obvious.

She invited anyone with contrary evidence to step up and present it to the grand jury rather than shouting questions from behind a camera rig.

Her shot at the reporters, “Come to the trial,” perfectly captured her style.

WATCH:

She will not bend to theatrics or media framing.

The press tried its usual tactic of dragging January 6 into the conversation, as if an Olympic canoeist prying sealant off a monument has anything to do with that day.

But the narrative could not stick.

Pirro refused to entertain it, and rightly so.

Americans have grown weary of every single headline being tied to the Capitol riot whenever leftists need a distraction from their own failures.

Conservatives across the country applauded Pirro’s performance.

For many, she expressed exactly what they feel about the corrupt press and the left’s hypocrisy.

They are done with the endless excuses for violence, vandalism, and smears against those trying to preserve public spaces.

When the nation’s monuments are under attack, the least Americans can expect is that prosecutors will defend them.

Jeanine Pirro has made clear she will do exactly that.
