An ex-girlfriend of Thomas Massie is accusing the Kentucky Republican of offering her $5,000 to walk away from a wrongful termination complaint involving one of his closest congressional allies as Massie faces a heated Republican primary backed by President Donald Trump, as reported by Fox News.
Cynthia West, a social worker and school board candidate in Okaloosa County, made the allegations during a video interview released Tuesday with Kentucky attorney Marcus Carey, who unsuccessfully challenged Massie during his first congressional campaign in 2012.

West alleged she began dating Massie several months after the death of his first wife in 2024. According to West, Massie later arranged a position for her in the office of Victoria Spartz, one of Massieâs closest allies in Congress.
West claimed she never formally applied for the role and said she was terminated shortly after ending the relationship with Massie.

âHe wanted me to go to wherever he was,â West said when describing why she relocated to Washington to work in Spartzâs office.
West described the relationship as âvery intense, very romantic,â and said it included trips to Savannah and South Africa.
According to West, she ended the relationship after Massie allegedly asked her to âengage in behaviorâ she was uncomfortable with and after what she described as emotional abuse.
West said she worked in Spartzâs office for approximately six weeks before being fired.

West later filed a wrongful termination complaint against Spartz and named Massie as a witness. She alleged that after learning about the complaint, Massie contacted her and attempted to persuade her to abandon it.
âI called him up to let him know, and he was very angry,â West said. âHe said you're just one person, that you can't make a difference, that you need to just walk away.â
âHe had $5,000 he said that he would give me if I could just walk away,â she added. âI didn't take it, though.â
UPDATE: Thomas Massie Allegations

West also said she declined a proposed $60,000 settlement offer tied to the complaint because it included a non-disclosure agreement.
âI've spent so much time fighting for transparency and justice, accountability, that if I did this, then I would call into question my own integrity,â West said. âI wouldn't be able to sit with that, so I can't do it.â
Massie denied the allegations in a statement to Fox News Digital.
âItâs sad that a week before this election, people are making false and unsubstantiated allegations about me in an obvious attempt to influence the outcome of this election,â Massie said. âAll of the claims of inappropriate conduct are false.â
âIâve never offered anyone money in exchange for their silence,â he added. âI have consulted legal counsel, and we are considering all options.â
A spokesperson for Spartzâs office confirmed West held a temporary probationary position but said her employment âwas not extended beyond that period due to unsatisfactory job performance.â
The allegations surfaced as early voting continues ahead of Kentuckyâs May 19 Republican primary, where Massie faces a Trump-backed challenge from former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein.
