President Donald J. Trump on Friday issued a public ultimatum to Hamas, telling the militant group it must accept his recently unveiled Gaza peace proposal by Sunday at 6 p.m. Washington, D.C. time or face intensified consequences.

Trump posted the deadline and a series of forceful warnings on Truth Social, as reported by The Western Journal.

Trump described Hamas in stark terms and framed the deadline as a last chance to end the two-year war that began with the October 7, 2023, attacks.

“Our intelligence, without a doubt, confirmed that this vessel was trafficking narcotics, the people onboard were narco-terrorists, and they were operating on a known narco-trafficking transit route,” he wrote in reference to previous messages announcing U.S. counter-operations — and in the post setting the Gaza ultimatum, he warned:

“An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time. Every Country has signed on! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”

The White House unveiled the 20-point plan earlier this week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The proposal calls for a ceasefire, the return of hostages held since Oct. 7, and measures intended to dismantle Hamas’s military capabilities while establishing an interim governing mechanism for Gaza, according to summaries of the plan. Israel has publicly signed on to the proposal.

Trump urged civilians in harm’s way to move to safer areas while offering assurances that international partners and the United States would provide care. He also demanded the immediate release of hostages:

“RELEASES THE HOSTAGES, ALL OF THEM, INCLUDING THE BODIES OF THOSE THAT ARE DEAD, NOW!” he wrote.

As of Friday evening, Hamas had not accepted the plan and had not issued a public acceptance by the new deadline, according to reporting at the time. U.S. officials have been pressing intermediaries, including Gulf partners, to secure a response from Hamas before the deadline.

Trump framed the ultimatum as a final opportunity to bring a negotiated end to the fighting.

“These strikes will continue until the attacks on the American people are over!!!!” he wrote in an earlier post relating to other security actions, and he reiterated that “THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.”

The president said the deal had broad backing from regional states and that it “also spares the lives of all remaining Hamas fighters” if they comply.

News outlets are monitoring developments closely as the Sunday deadline approaches. Officials in Washington and allied capitals are pursuing diplomatic channels to secure a response and to avoid an escalation that could widen the conflict beyond Gaza.
