A large fight among a group of boaters at Lake Winterset in Polk County, Florida, over the weekend resulted in two men being knocked unconscious and eight people facing criminal charges, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Grady Judd announced Tuesday that seven men and a 17-year-old male were arrested following the altercation, which was captured on video and occurred in full view of families and children gathered along the lake.
The incident took place near the Winterset sandbar, an area that has been the focus of recent law enforcement attention.
The footage, shown by the sheriff’s office, begins with one man being struck twice by another before collapsing to the ground and appearing to lose consciousness.

While he lay face down, several other individuals began throwing punches.
A woman in a pink bikini was seen attempting CPR on the unconscious man as the fight continued around her.
The video also shows a man wearing a large gold chain trying to restrain another participant, both of whom fell into the lake during the scuffle.
Moments later, the man believed to have thrown the first punch entered the water and attacked another person, knocking him unconscious and leaving him floating face down.

The individuals arrested were identified as Mason Land, Nate Land, Payton Ely, Timothy Gooding, Richard Carden, Garrett Ore, Garrett Hiltabidel, and an unidentified 17-year-old male.
All are facing charges of rioting, affray, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.
According to the sheriff’s office, most of the suspects are in their late teens or early twenties, with Carden listed as 40 years old.
Sheriff Judd stated that the Winterset sandbar has been a recurring problem area for disruptive behavior and criminal activity, including public indecency.

He emphasized that his office intends to address such incidents directly.
“You can knucklebust and create brain injuries to each other on your own property without creating a disturbance to your neighbors. It’s over, folks. I think I’ve said that enough,” Judd said.
“The conduct is reprehensible and, obviously, you don’t believe us when we try to warn you. So you have unleashed the teeth of the dog, and now we’re going to start biting you, just like we bit these guys here.”
The sheriff noted that reports from property owners have included not only physical altercations but also lewd and indecent behavior in the area.
In May, the Polk County Commission approved an ordinance restricting boaters from approaching the shoreline at several lakes, including the Winterset sandbar.
Sheriff Judd said the ordinance is awaiting final state approval, which is expected by early August.
Following the weekend’s events, Judd stated that the sheriff’s office will meet with county attorneys to consider additional measures, including a noise ordinance aimed at curbing disturbances on the lake.
The investigation into the altercation remains ongoing.
