Vice President J.D. Vance visited the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, on Wednesday, where he gave an encouraging speech to Marines before demonstrating his shooting skills at the base's shooting range.

Vance, a former Marine, fired five different weapons, including a howitzer, a M240B medium machine gun, a M27 5.56 infantry rifle, a M107 .50 sniper rifle, and an FPV drone still in experimental stages, according to a pool report.

Following his speech, Vance joined the Marines at the range, where he fired the weapons.

A Marine was heard telling Vance, “You know what you’re doing,” as he handled the M27 infantry rifle.

In his speech to the Marines, Vance emphasized the importance of a "renewed sense of patriotism" and "commitment to excellence" within the military, stressing the need for continued investment in the armed forces.

He also noted that every branch of the U.S. military has been meeting its recruiting goals since President Donald Trump reentered office.

"We’re going to invest in the Marine Corps and the entire United States military like we never have before," Vance said to the crowd.

He went on to promise significant investments in both the Marine Corps and the broader U.S. military infrastructure, totaling over $1 trillion, aimed at enhancing the nation's defense capabilities.

Vance's speech underscored the importance of ensuring that Marines and all military personnel have the best equipment when they are called into service.

“We know from the long history of the United States of America that while the leading edge of American power is you all, it really matters what you guys have in your hands and what you guys have on your backs when you go to war,” Vance explained.

He further assured the Marines that any future military engagements would be met with the best equipment and resources available.

“So I promised you from the President of the United States, we are going to send you, if we have to send you to war, with the best equipment, the best ammunition, the best weapons. And we are going to empower you guys to win when you have to. That’s the purpose of the United States Marine Corps,” Vance added.

The vice president's visit was met with enthusiasm from young Marines who appeared eager to meet him, according to a report from The Daily Wire’s Mary Margaret Olohan.

The Marines waiting for Vance's arrival were excited, signaling strong morale and support among the troops for the vice president’s message.

This event at Quantico follows Vance’s broader focus on military readiness and ensuring that the U.S. military is prepared for any future challenges.

By highlighting the importance of investment in defense and promoting a culture of excellence within the ranks, Vance is signaling a continued commitment to strengthening the armed forces.
