The proposed language changes are part of Senate Bill 45, which was introduced on Friday and pertains to state finances and appropriations as part of the 2025 legislature’s executive budget act.

Dan O’Donnell, host of The Dan O’Donnell Show, highlighted the bill’s controversial language changes, specifically Section 3106, which removes gendered terms like “man” and “wife” in favor of gender-neutral alternatives such as “person.”

According to the Wisconsin State Legislature’s official website, Senate Bill 45 was “introduced by the Joint Committee on Finance.”

O’Donnell shared his concerns in a post on X, writing, “Democrat Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has introduced a bill that will change state law to replace the word ‘mother’ with ‘inseminated person.’”

The proposed changes have sparked widespread backlash online.

The move by Wisconsin Democrats follows similar efforts in states like Massachusetts, where lawmakers have introduced bills replacing “mother” with terms like “person who gave birth.”

The push for gender-neutral terminology in legal language has been met with resistance from conservatives, including President Donald Trump, who previously signed an executive order affirming that “it is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.”

Critics of the Wisconsin bill, including prominent conservative voices, have taken to social media to express their opposition.

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines reacted with disbelief, posting, “The thought of being labeled as ‘inseminated’ or ‘uninseminated’ by this creep makes my stomach turn ???”

Mark Trammell, executive director and general counsel for the Center for American Liberty, mocked the bill’s terminology in his own post, writing, “Nothing says, ‘I love you mom’ like celebrating ‘Inseminated Person’s’ Day! May 11th. Mark your calendars!”

David Marcus, a Fox News digital columnist, took aim at the commercial implications of such terminology, stating, “This is going to be a disaster for the greeting card industry.”

Some conservatives see the bill as an opportunity for political pushback.
