Former Bond girl Trina Parks has thrown her support behind Sydney Sweeney for a place in the next James Bond film, praising the actress as a compelling choice for the celebrated role, as reported by Page Six.

Parks, 79, told the Telegraph that Sweeney would be “wonderful” as a Bond girl. She pointed to the 29-year-old actress’s range, confidence and command of her public image.

“She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity,” Parks said in the new interview.

Parks also described Sweeney as “not only a talented actress,” while highlighting the distinctive image she brings to her work. She said Sweeney “has this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand.”

The endorsement carries significance because Parks has her own place in the history of the spy franchise. She became the first Black Bond girl when she appeared opposite Sean Connery in the 1971 film “Diamonds Are Forever.”

Parks insisted that the “Euphoria” star could be a welcome addition as the franchise prepares for its next chapter. Her comments focused on the qualities she believes modern audiences expect from a woman appearing opposite Bond.

“I feel for modern cinema and filmmaking and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,” Parks said.

Her latest remarks follow earlier comments about the direction of the franchise. In July, Parks suggested that the next version of 007 should be monogamous rather than surrounded by numerous romantic partners.

“Of course I would like them to keep the romance in, but perhaps not give him a multitude of partners,” she told the Telegraph.

Parks also argued that a future Bond romance should require more effort from the spy. “I don’t want the women to just fall into bed with him because he is good-looking. It should be a female who he has got to prove that he is worthy of being her bed partner.”

The actress urged those overseeing Bond to create a film that “reflects the modern world where women are stronger characters and hold powerful positions.”

No one has officially been cast as a Bond girl for the upcoming movie. However, the Telegraph reported that Sweeney is in the running alongside “The Substance” star Margaret Qualley and her fellow “Euphoria” actress Zendaya.

The franchise has featured an extensive list of actresses in Bond girl roles. Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Lea Seydoux and Ana de Armas are among those who have previously appeared.

“Dune” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next Bond movie for Amazon MGM Studios. The studio bought the creative rights to 007 from the Broccoli family in 2025.

The search for the next actor to lead the franchise has reportedly narrowed to Callum Turner, 36, and Jack Lowden, 36. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two were set to complete one final screen test at the end of October before a decision was made.

Deadline reported that two other actors also received test offers, including “The Crown” star Josh O’Connor, 36. The identity of the fourth person was not revealed.

Lowden recently addressed the speculation during an interview with British GQ, calling the casting rumors “flattering.” The outlet also noted that the “Slow Horses” star became visually unsettled when the conversation turned to Bond.

Daniel Craig was the most recent actor to play 007, beginning with 2006’s “Casino Royale” and ending with 2021’s “No Time to Die.” Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan have also played versions of the spy.
