President Trump’s ousted ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is unlikely to publicly attack Trump or his family because she may need a pardon over the scandal that ended her diplomatic tenure, sources told The Post.
Trump demanded and received Guilfoyle’s resignation following allegations that she solicited money for favors and accepted gifted travel from Greek businessmen. Guilfoyle, known for emotional outbursts and diva demands, has denied wrongdoing.

“She’s gonna need a pardon and if she doesn’t behave she ain’t getting one,” a person close to the White House and Trump family said shortly after her resignation.
A second person close to the White House offered similarly blunt advice as questions surrounded Guilfoyle’s future and the possibility of criminal investigations. “If I were her, I’d probably shut up and hope for it,” the person said.

Guilfoyle dated Donald Trump Jr. from early 2018 until late 2024. That relationship gave her access to some of the Trump family’s most private conversations and dealings, potentially making her a star witness against the president if congressional Democrats win the midterms on Nov. 3.
Trump publicly distanced himself from Guilfoyle on Tuesday afternoon. “She wasn’t a member of my family. She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago,” he told reporters.

The White House has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece, after The Wall Street Journal reported that she had solicited $100,000 from a Trump donor in the run-up to her confirmation hearing last year.

In her farewell statement, Guilfoyle rejected the accusations and pledged to fight them. “These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity,” she wrote.
“I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service.”

Trump nominated Guilfoyle to become ambassador to Greece shortly after her engagement to Donald Trump Jr. ended. One person close to the family described the nomination as a “soft landing,” but her conduct in office eventually crossed a line for the president.
Sources said another such landing is unlikely following her removal from the diplomatic post. They said clemency may be the best outcome she can hope for as she faces the potential burden of criminal investigations, expensive legal bills, and possible penalties.
A third source close to the White House and familiar with Guilfoyle’s record agreed that the possibility of a pardon could restrain her. That person, however, said Guilfoyle’s personality may make silence difficult.
“Kim is a well-known and world-class fabulist. She is definitely emotional… and could also just say a bunch of crazy stuff,” the source said.
The same source disputed the idea that Guilfoyle possesses a vast collection of damaging information about the Trump family. “There is a presumption she has all this dirt that honestly she doesn’t,” he said.
“It’s Kim, so she can make stuff up obviously, but she’s not exactly a reliable narrator.”
The facts surrounding the controversies tied to Guilfoyle’s diplomatic role remain unclear. Her allies have offered explanations for some of the conduct under scrutiny, including the allegation that she asked businessman Eric Deters to cover a $100,000 credit card bill in exchange for favors.
Guilfoyle has told people the $100,000 was an unpaid speaking fee. It remains unclear how the alleged failure to pay that fee could affect her legal liability.
Questions also remain about her allegedly self described free luxury travel from foreign tycoons, including how that travel intersected with her government position. It is also unclear whether she followed through on reported pledges to make people who assisted her wealthy.
“Whatever the case, it certainly will be looked at, which would likely be a huge process and a lot of legal fees,” the second source said, adding that “she knows well from Jan. 6” how punishing criminal investigations can become.
Guilfoyle, the former wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, devoted much of her resignation statement to declaring continued loyalty to Trump. “While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she wrote.
She ended her statement with another pledge of support. “God bless President Trump, God bless our incredible diplomats and service members, and God bless the United States of America.”
Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime. I will forever be grateful to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of the world.
From my first day as Ambassador, I have worked tirelessly to advance President Trump’s America First agenda, strengthen our strategic alliance with Greece, and deliver meaningful victories for the American people. During my tenure, we have helped secure historic agreements to expand American liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, advanced the Vertical Corridor to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy, strengthened our defense and security partnership with a critical NATO ally, and expanded opportunities for American businesses and investment throughout the region. I am especially proud of the role our Embassy has played in strengthening American energy dominance, advancing economic cooperation, and ensuring that the United States remains the indispensable leader in Southeast Europe. These accomplishments are a testament to President Trump’s bold leadership, Secretary Rubio’s commitment to American diplomacy, and the extraordinary men and women who serve our country every day. I also want to address the recent allegations against me. These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service. My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again. While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end. It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve the United States of America. My deepest heartfelt appreciation to the people of Greece for their hospitality, partnership, and welcoming me with open arms. God bless President Trump, God bless our incredible diplomats and service members, and God bless the United States of America. — Kimberly Guilfoyle (@kimguilfoyle) October 13, 2026
