Hillary Clinton has again put President Trump and the people around him in her political sights, this time calling for investigations that would reach far beyond Trump himself. Her demand explicitly included his administration, family, supporters, and allies.

The twice-failed presidential hopeful made the remarks Wednesday during an appearance on Kara Swisher’s “On with Kara Swisher” podcast. The episode focused on the midterm elections and carried the title, “The Midterm Prep Episode: Tightest Races, Those Ohio Midterm Ads, and Remembering Pizzagate.”

Clinton used the appearance to attack Trump and describe what she expects from a Democratic Congress. Her vision was not limited to congressional scrutiny of the president or his administration.

Instead, she laid out a list that swept in several circles around Trump. The wording moved from Trump’s administration and family directly to his supporters and allies, making the breadth of her demand impossible to miss.

“And [Trump] is soon going to have a Democratic Congress trying to rein him in and hold him accountable and investigate him, his administration, his family, his supporters and allies.”

That list puts ordinary Trump supporters in the same sentence as the president, his family, his administration, and his political allies. Clinton offered the declaration confidently while discussing what she believes could follow the midterm elections.

Clinton also portrayed Republican lawmakers as hostages of Trump, claiming the arrangement had continued for a decade. She predicted that Republicans could eventually recognize their numerical advantage and turn against him.

“He has literally held Republicans hostage for a decade, and that only works for so long. One day the hostages look around and say there are more of us than there is of him,” Hillary said.

Her comments did not stop at predictions about Congress or Republican lawmakers. Clinton followed them with a call to confront Trump and presented the election as merely the opening stage of what could come next.

“We need to take him on, and I think we could see that happen, so buckle up. The election is just the beginning,” she said.

The remarks fit a pattern of Clinton targeting Trump’s supporters with sweeping accusations and ominous rhetoric. Her latest demand once again expanded her focus beyond Trump to include the people who support or work with him.

Shortly before the 2016 election, Clinton delivered one of the most notorious attacks of that campaign when she said half of Trump’s supporters belonged in a “basket of deplorables.” The comment came before her crushing loss to Trump in the presidential race.

Remember Clinton’s rhetoric in 2024, when she said everyone who attended Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally was a Nazi. That accusation once again treated a broad crowd of Trump supporters as a single target for condemnation.

Clinton has also previously suggested jailing Trump supporters for posting what she called “misinformation.” Taken alongside her latest podcast remarks, that earlier suggestion shows that her attacks have repeatedly reached past Trump and toward Americans who back him.

On Swisher’s podcast, Clinton connected her hopes for investigations to the prospect of a Democratic Congress. She said such a Congress would attempt to restrain Trump, hold him accountable, and investigate the administration, family, supporters, and allies surrounding him.

The podcast episode was framed as preparation for the midterm elections, with attention given to close races, Ohio midterm advertisements, and Pizzagate. Clinton used that election discussion to deliver her broader warning about what Trump and those connected to him could face.

Her message was blunt about both the scope and timing she envisioned. Clinton told listeners to “buckle up” and declared that the election would be only the beginning.

For Trump supporters, the most striking part was not simply Clinton’s attack on the president. It was her explicit inclusion of his supporters in a proposed wave of investigations alongside his administration, family, and allies.

Clinton’s latest appearance therefore revived the same political hostility that marked her “basket of deplorables” insult and her later attacks on Trump rally attendees. Years after losing to Trump in 2016, she is still demanding action against an ever-widening circle of people connected to him.
