Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, reportedly spent years trying to help their only son, Presley Gerber, before his death at a California rehabilitation facility. Presley, a model, was 27 years old when he died last Sunday.

An insider told People Magazine that Crawford, 60, and Rande, 64, had “tried everything possible” to save their son. Their efforts reportedly included therapy, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment and “so many types of homeopathic therapies.”

Crawford and Rande have been married since 1998. They are also parents to Presley’s sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber, 25.

According to the insider, the couple hired more than one sober coach to help Presley. Those coaches were reportedly with him “almost always” as the family continued seeking ways to support his recovery.

A sober coach is a trained professional who provides practical support to people during the early stages of recovery from substance use disorders. Such support can include establishing daily structure, responding to cravings and helping someone transition from treatment into everyday life.

The source said Crawford and Rande also attempted to guide Presley toward work that interested him. They encouraged possibilities involving modeling and photography, while remaining prepared to support whatever activity excited him.

The insider said Presley experienced a period of sobriety during the winter. “He had a stretch of time in the winter where he was clean. And his family was thrilled,” the source explained.

Despite that hopeful stretch, the insider claimed Presley’s “last year” had “become especially bad.” The source also said Crawford and Rande were left “devastated” by their son’s death.

Following Presley’s passing, a representative for Crawford, Rande and Kaia released a short statement on behalf of the grieving family. “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the representative said.

Insiders previously told TMZ that Presley did not appear to be sober when he arrived at Resolutions Living, a luxury rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica. He reportedly checked into the facility on the night of Saturday, September 19, just hours before his death.

Presley was reportedly staying in a separate house located on the facility’s grounds, where he was said to have roommates. He was found unresponsive the following morning.

Police were called to the facility at around 9:35 AM last Sunday following a report of a suspected overdose. A Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail that responding officers found an unresponsive person and performed measures intended to save his life.

“On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9.35am, Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street,” the spokesperson said. “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased.”

The spokesperson said detectives were investigating the death as a suspected overdose. Authorities had found no indication of foul play, and the investigation remained ongoing.

The medical examiner’s office provided a precise timeline for the pronouncement. “Death was pronounced at 09.45 hours on September 20, 2026, by responding paramedics,” the office said on Monday.

Although authorities were investigating a suspected overdose, Presley’s cause of death had not yet been determined. The source content also noted that Presley had previously spoken openly about mental health challenges, panic attacks, addiction and a struggle with drug use lasting several years.

A later report stated that Presley’s autopsy had been completed and his body had been cremated. According to information attributed to his death certificate, Crawford and Rande planned to keep their son’s ashes in Malibu.

The family’s loss follows years of reported attempts to help Presley through treatment, coaching and professional opportunities. Crawford, Rande and Kaia are now asking for privacy as they grieve his death.
