Ella Langley appears to be enjoying her rapid rise to superstardom while also having a little fun with the attention surrounding her.

The “Choosin’ Texas” singer seemingly responded after Doja Cat bluntly dismissed the country star and her music, as reported by Page Six.

Langley shared a carousel of fresh photos and videos on social media this week. However, it was the caption that quickly caught the attention of fans familiar with Doja Cat’s recent remarks.

“Ella Langley? What is that?” Langley wrote alongside the post. The wording appeared to reference comments Doja Cat made during an appearance on the “Sundae Conversation” podcast earlier this week.

During the podcast, Doja Cat was asked whether she was a fan of Langley. The pop singer responded, “I don’t know what that is.”

Doja Cat then sounded out Langley’s name a couple of times. When the podcast hosts encouraged her to listen to the country singer and suggested that she would like her, Doja Cat simply replied, “OK.”

The exchange drew mixed reactions from listeners. Some people praised Doja Cat for giving an authentic response, while others accused her of lying about not knowing who Langley is.

Doja Cat addressed the subject further during an Instagram Live session on Aug. 25, according to E! News.

She reportedly made it clear that country music generally does not interest her, although she acknowledged liking one specific track.

“I like that one Keith Urban song from 2004,” Doja Cat reportedly said. She also described Langley as “probably a fine lady,” while explaining that the singer’s style of music did not appeal to her or inspire her.

According to E!, Doja Cat listened to “Choosin’ Texas” during the stream and shared her reaction in real time. “This is not my vibe, but she has a very pretty voice,” she said.

Doja Cat recognized why the song could work on the radio, even though it did not match her personal taste. “I don’t like it, but that’s fine,” she said.

She also acknowledged the track’s catchy qualities while continuing to distance herself from its sound. “It’s very earwormy it sounds like, it’s like [a] catchy melody. I get it, and she’s pretty.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Doja Cat for comment. Meanwhile, Langley’s social media caption prompted fans to connect her post directly to the pop singer’s original comments.

“We all know… Doja just wants to Be Her,” one person wrote beneath Langley’s post. Another commenter enjoyed the apparent shade, writing, “Messy with that caption it’s what I’m here for.”

Several of Doja Cat’s fans also stepped in to defend her. They noted that while Langley is experiencing an enormous moment in country music, Doja Cat has achieved significant success in her own career.

Doja Cat has accumulated billions of streams and released multiple songs that reached multi platinum status.

In 2022, she and SZA won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance for “Kiss Me More,” and Doja Cat has also received several other nominations.

At the same time, Langley is breaking records with “Choosin’ Texas.” The Alabama native has spent 19 weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 with the hit.

That 19-week run makes “Choosin’ Texas” the longest-running No. 1 song by a female country artist in history.
