Anson Mount says his wife had a hilarious reaction to Joy Behar’s unexpected on-air kiss during his appearance on “The View.”

The “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” actor joined the ABC talk show on Wednesday and was greeted warmly by the panel as he walked onstage, as reported by Page Six.

When Mount hugged Behar, she first kissed him on the cheek, but then surprised everyone by pulling him in for a longer kiss on the lips. The moment left lipstick on his mouth and the audience gasping.

Behar, who is 83, seemed amused by the crowd’s reaction, while co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin looked stunned.

“I’m old, but I’m not dead,” Behar quipped after the surprising smooch.

Here you have The View posting the clip, condoning her behavior: "'I'm old, but I'm not dead!' Joy Behar's dreams come true with Anson Mount!'"

Mount, who is 53, later joked about the moment in an interview with TV Insider. “I asked my wife to promise me she wouldn’t divorce me. She thought it was hilarious,” he said.

The actor is married to photographer and author Darah Trang. The couple wed in 2018 and share two daughters, Clover, 4, and Violet, 1.

Mount laughed off the viral moment, joking that viewers might have just been surprised to see him again. “I think people just assume that I’m not around anymore because I have two young kids. I think maybe they were surprised to see that I’m still alive,” he said.

He also shared that the last time he appeared on “The View” was 13 years ago. At the time, he had brought Behar flowers for her birthday.

“I guess I made an impression,” Mount joked. “So, we’ll see what she does the next time.”

During Wednesday’s segment, Behar referenced that earlier appearance, telling him, “Last time he was here, he brought me flowers for my birthday, and it’s never been the same between us.”

Mount reminded her that he was now married, replying, “Well, I got married, so.”

She responded with a grin, “I know, that’s what I mean.”

Viewers quickly flooded social media with mixed reactions after “The View” posted the kiss on TikTok.

One commenter wrote, “Yeah, idk about this he plays it off well, but I think she crossed a line.”

Another viewer asked, “Isn’t that sexual harassment?”

Page Six reported that Behar’s representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment following the broadcast.

Despite the online debate, Mount kept the encounter lighthearted, joking about it in interviews and maintaining his good humor about the viral buzz.

For his wife, the attention apparently only added to the comedy of the situation. As Mount explained, her reaction was pure amusement, and she found the whole episode “hilarious.”

The moment quickly joined the roster of surprising live TV moments to come out of “The View,” a show known for its lively and unpredictable exchanges among hosts and guests alike.

Whether it was an awkward slip or just unscripted glamour, the unexpected kiss became the talk of daytime television — and proved that even a “Star Trek” captain can get caught off guard mid-interview.
