Senator John Fetterman is once again setting off alarms inside his own party, and this time, he is warning that fellow Democrats are marching the country toward a constitutional crisis.
The Pennsylvania lawmaker called out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for openly vowing to defy a Supreme Court decision that reaffirmed President Donald Trump’s authority to end Temporary Protected Status for certain migrants.
Fetterman’s warning came during a Saturday broadcast of "Saturday in America" where he spoke with host Kayleigh McEnany.
The senator, an increasingly rare Democrat who still claims to respect America’s constitutional framework, asked an uncomfortable question for his fellow liberals.

“I haven’t seen the freak out now that the mayor of New York is saying I’m going to defy the Supreme Court ruling,” Fetterman remarked.
It is an extraordinary statement from a Democrat who only a few years ago joined the same party that used “constitutional crisis” as a rallying cry every other week during the Trump administration.
Back then, Democrats insisted that even minor disputes between Trump and the courts were proof of impending tyranny.
Now that one of their own is pledging to ignore the highest court in the land, the silence from that same crowd is deafening.

Fetterman said that if any Republican governor or mayor had announced an intent to disregard a ruling from the Supreme Court, Democrats would be in full meltdown mode.
Instead, many of his colleagues seem to be shrugging it off or even defending Mamdani, a proud socialist who apparently believes that local politicians can overrule the judiciary whenever they feel righteous enough.
“Many of the members in my party are not calling him out,” Fetterman said pointedly.
“Or they are defending him, or just saying we really actually have to follow the court rulings because that is a constitutional crisis, when you have the leader of the country’s largest city saying we’re not going to follow or honor what the Supreme Court says.”
WATCH:
The decision Mamdani vowed to reject came from two immigration cases that reaffirmed the Trump administration’s discretion in managing asylum policy and Temporary Protected Status.
In one case, the court ruled that migrants who are turned away at the border before formally entering the United States cannot claim asylum.
In the second, the court determined that foreign nationals from places like Haiti and Syria who hold temporary status cannot seek judicial relief to block the revocation of their protected designation.
In short, the rulings delivered a pair of victories to the rule of law and a rebuke to those who believe that immigration enforcement should be subject to mob sentiment instead of statute.
For Fetterman, that is precisely the kind of moment when Americans must stand up for the Constitution instead of pandering to the radical fringe.
Mamdani’s reaction, however, was pure defiance.
He declared in a video statement that “the ruling was not something his administration will ever accept.”
WATCH:
Those are the kinds of words that sound eerily similar to the very challenges to authority Democrats accused Trump of plotting for years.
Fetterman’s criticism of Mamdani follows a recent pattern.
He has become one of the few remaining Democrats willing to publicly challenge the far left’s growing influence inside the party.
His comments fit a broader concern among centrist Democrats and many conservatives that a small band of socialist activists is now steering the agenda for an entire political movement.
Other figures such as Maine Senate candidate Graham Planter, Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Nithya Raman, and Washington, D.C., contender Janeese Lewis George have been pushing the same ideological direction.
The ascendance of these far left candidates has sent shockwaves through traditional Democratic ranks and emboldened figures like Mamdani to test the limits of legal authority with impunity.
To conservatives, the hypocrisy is glaring.
When Trump upheld decisions from courts that went against him, Democrats said nothing positive.
When a liberal mayor vows to violate Supreme Court authority entirely, they pretend it is simply a difference of opinion.
The selective outrage reveals the modern left’s real view of the rule of law, which is that it only applies when it benefits their agenda.
Fetterman’s willingness to call it out sets him apart, even if it puts a target on his back among his own base.
That is not lost on conservatives who have long argued that the Democratic Party’s center has all but vanished.
They see in Fetterman’s comments proof of what happens when radicals gain power and moderates either run for cover or decide to fight back.

For now, his remarks are a rare dose of honesty from inside a party that once prided itself on defending institutions only when politically convenient.
Whether Democrats listen to Fetterman or continue to drift toward ideological extremism will determine more than just one policy debate.
It will show whether the left still believes in constitutional integrity at all.
