White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized major U.S. media outlets while outlining the administration’s position on recent military operations involving Iran and ongoing negotiations between the two countries.

Leavitt said coverage from several news organizations has not reflected what she described as the current situation following Operation Epic Fury, a military campaign launched under President Donald Trump.

“If the American people want the truth, they definitely should not pick up the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal or watch CNN,” Leavitt said.

She added, “It's almost like these legacy American media outlets were rooting for the Iranian regime over the American people, over our great United States military because they are so rooted in their opposition to President Trump, rather than seeking and reporting on the facts.”

Leavitt said the United States is in a stronger negotiating position following the operation.

“The facts are, the United States of America tonight have never been so close to making a truly good deal, unlike the horrific deal signed by Barack Hussein Obama, then we are right now,” she said.

She attributed that position to both the administration’s approach to negotiations and the military campaign.

“Why? Thanks to President Trump's brilliant negotiating tactics and thanks to the success of Operation epic fury,” Leavitt said.

She described the operation as a turning point after decades of conflict.

“A mission that he launched after 47 years of Iran being at war with United States of America and having presidents for 47 years who lacked the courage to do what President Trump finally had the courage to do,” she said.

Leavitt also outlined the reported results of the military campaign.

“Our military took out more than 13,000 targets,” she said.

She continued, “The Iranian Navy is in the bottom of the sea.”

Leavitt added, “We have completely depleted their air force, their military, their ability for their leaders to communicate with one another inside this radical regime.”

Despite those claims, Leavitt said media coverage has suggested the United States is in a weaker position.

“Yet the American media is still trying to say that the United States is in a worse off position than we were at the start of this, that Iran still poses a threat,” she said.

She dismissed those assessments, stating, “It's all a bunch of nonsense.”

Leavitt also said media opposition to the administration is influencing coverage.

“They are rooting against this President and therefore our country,” she said.

“And it's really despicable to watch,” she added.

Leavitt said President Trump’s leadership has guided the administration’s actions during the operation and negotiations.

“But the facts are the facts President Trump has been the steady leader our country needs throughout this entire endeavor,” she said.

She also emphasized that negotiations remain ongoing and could result in an agreement.

“Thanks to the success of the military operation and his hard line negotiating style, we're on the brink of a deal,” Leavitt said.

She added that additional options remain available if an agreement is not reached.

“And if not, the President, as Commander in Chief, still has a number of options at his disposal that he's unafraid to use,” she said.

Leavitt concluded by pointing to the president’s past actions.

“And President Trump has proven before, he does not bluff when he makes a promise, he follows through on it,” she said.

She added, “I'm not sure why after 10 years of covering this President, the American media still cannot understand when President Trump says he's going to do something, he's going to do it.”
