Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania congratulated President Donald Trump on Wednesday after the president announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to phase one of a peace plan, as reported by Fox News.

Fetterman, who has been one of the most outspoken pro-Israel Democrats in Congress, said he shared Trump’s unwavering support for the Jewish state.

“I congratulate @POTUS on this historic peace plan that releases all the hostages. Now, enduring peace in the region is possible. Our parties are different but we have a shared ironclad commitment to Israel and its people,” Fetterman wrote on X, posting a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social announcement.

In his post, Trump declared, “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

Trump continued, “All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

The plan marks the latest development in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict that erupted after Hamas launched its October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel.

That attack included acts of murder, rape, and kidnapping that shocked the world and prompted Israel to respond with full-scale military operations in Gaza.

Fetterman’s message highlighted the rare bipartisan alignment on a major foreign policy issue, with both he and Trump emphasizing the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security and sovereignty.

His remarks also underscored how Israel’s defense remains a deeply rooted priority among lawmakers despite partisan divisions elsewhere in Washington.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other supporters of the administration have said that Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the deal. However, Republican Rep. Randy Fine of Florida suggested that even such an award would not be sufficient recognition if lasting peace is achieved.

“The Nobel Peace Prize isn’t enough,” Fine wrote on X. “If every living hostage is returned and lasting peace in the Middle East is secured, we should repeal the 22nd Amendment and thank the Lord for every day @realdonaldtrump can be our President. There will never be another one like him.”

The White House confirmed that phase one of the agreement includes the release of all hostages and the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces, with further steps to follow under international mediation.

Trump hailed the plan as proof that “strong leadership and faith” can bring peace to one of the world’s most volatile regions.
