The incident occurred as federal officers monitored activity near the city’s ICE facility, where violent demonstrations by Antifa and other far-left groups had taken place over the weekend.

The arrests come amid heightened security in Portland, where ICE facilities have faced repeated demonstrations from Antifa and other extremist groups.
Federal authorities said the presence of illegal aliens engaged in hostile actions against aircraft added further justification for their increased enforcement posture.
The individuals arrested have not yet been publicly identified, and charges related to the laser incident are pending review by federal prosecutors. The investigation remains ongoing.
