Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat and former running mate of Kamala Harris, is facing scrutiny after making comments over the weekend that many viewed as speculation about President Donald Trump’s health.
Walz delivered the remarks during a Labor Day picnic in Duluth, Minnesota.
Addressing attendees, he suggested there might be news about the President, drawing laughter from the crowd.
“You get up in the morning and doom scroll through things and — although I will say this — the last few days you woke up thinking there might be news,” Walz said.

He added, “Just saying. Just saying. There will be news sometime. Just so you know, there will be news.”

The comments came as sections of the media have focused on President Trump’s health following fewer public appearances in recent days.
The discussion intensified after his Cabinet meeting last week, with speculation fueled by his temporary absence from public view.
President Trump addressed the matter directly in response to a Truth Social post from commentator Rogan O’Handley, known as DC Draino.

The post contrasted the media’s coverage of Trump with its treatment of Joe Biden during his presidency.
“Joe Biden would go multiple days at a time without any public appearances and the media would say he’s ‘sharp’ and ‘top of his game,’” the post read.
“Meanwhile he was wearing diapers and napping. President Trump puts in more public work hours than any other POTUS in US history and media freaks out if he disappears for 24 hours. Comical double standard.”
In reply, Trump wrote, “NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE,” adding, “Also, DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE! President DJT.”

Vice President JD Vance also weighed in, saying the President is in “incredibly good health” and praised his energy.
Trump himself was seen over the weekend heading to his golf course in Virginia.
CNN's Scott Jennings didn't hold back in his comments about Walz, calling him 'a complete piece of sh*t.'

The speculation comes after the White House in July confirmed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the condition as “benign and common,” particularly among individuals over the age of 70.

Walz’s comments add to ongoing political debate surrounding the President’s health.
During Biden’s four years in office, questions over his fitness for duty intensified following visible stumbles and concerns about his mental acuity.
Biden was ultimately replaced by Democrats as their candidate following his performance in a debate against Trump.

By contrast, President Trump and his administration have emphasized his health and workload, pointing to his active public schedule.
While the White House has acknowledged the chronic condition, it has stressed that it does not affect his ability to carry out the responsibilities of his office.
The remarks from Walz, coupled with renewed focus from media outlets, underscore the continuing partisan divide over presidential health narratives.
The President has publicly dismissed the speculation, stating he remains in good condition and active in his duties.
