Authorities arrested two individuals Tuesday in connection with a violent brawl that occurred early Saturday morning outside the LoVe Nightclub in downtown Cincinnati, as reported by The New York Post.

The incident, which left two people seriously injured and drew widespread outrage after a video of the assault went viral, has led to multiple arrests and an ongoing investigation.

Montianez Merriweather, 34, and Dekyra Vernon, 24, were taken into custody and charged with felonious assault and aggravated riot, according to Cincinnati police and local media outlet WXIX.

Officials have not yet detailed the specific roles Merriweather and Vernon played in the attack, which targeted a white couple and unfolded on a public sidewalk.

Merriweather had been released on bond just weeks prior to the incident. On July 10, he was indicted on several charges including receiving stolen property, weapons under disability, and improper transportation of a firearm.

According to the Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police, Merriweather was freed after paying only 10% of his $4,000 bond. “This is your court system,” the FOP wrote in a public statement condemning the release.

Police and prosecutors are continuing their investigation into the violent brawl, which drew condemnation from both state and national figures.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that three active warrants remain outstanding for additional suspects believed to be involved in the attack.

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge said on Monday that five individuals have already been charged in relation to the brawl. The altercation reportedly escalated outside the LoVe Nightclub and resulted in at least one female victim being knocked unconscious.

A video of the attack showed the woman lying motionless on the pavement, bleeding from the mouth.

The footage prompted swift reaction from political leaders in Ohio. Vice President J.D. Vance, who previously served as a U.S. Senator for the state, called the assault “unconscionable” and said the individuals responsible should face significant legal consequences.

“I haven’t seen the full context, but what I saw is a mob of lawless thugs beating up on an innocent person,” Vance said. “Where I come from at least, when you have a grown man who sucker-punches a middle-aged woman, that person ought to go to jail for a very long time.”

Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also condemned the violence, demanding accountability and stronger enforcement from the criminal justice system.

Authorities continue to seek additional suspects as the investigation remains active.
