FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced Monday that the agency is actively reviewing three high-profile cases that have gone unresolved under the Biden-Harris administration, including the January 6 pipe bomb incident, the 2022 Supreme Court draft opinion leak, and the 2023 cocaine discovery inside the White House.
In a statement posted to X, Bongino said he and FBI Director Kash Patel had made the decision “to either re-open, or push additional resources and investigative attention, to these cases.”
The renewed focus follows increased scrutiny from lawmakers and the public over the lack of resolution in each investigation.
“I receive requested briefings on these cases weekly and we are making progress,” Bongino stated.

He also urged the public to assist in the investigations by submitting any relevant information or tips directly to the FBI.
The first case being re-examined involves the pipe bombs discovered at the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters on January 6, 2021, the same day as the Capitol riot.
Surveillance footage released by the FBI shows an unidentified individual placing the bombs near the buildings the night before.
Despite extensive investigations over the past four years, no arrests have been made, raising bipartisan concerns about the thoroughness and transparency of the initial probe.

The second case is tied to the leak of a draft opinion in the Supreme Court’s landmark Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision.
The leaked draft, published by Politico in May 2022, indicated that the Court was poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, which it officially did the following month.
The leak sparked unlawful protests outside the homes of several justices, an attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and repeated calls from Congress for accountability.
In January 2023, the Court announced that its internal investigation failed to identify the leaker.
The third unresolved case dates back to July 2023, when the Secret Service found a small bag of cocaine inside the White House.
The discovery was made shortly after Hunter Biden, the president’s son, had visited the building.
Although Hunter Biden has a well-documented history of cocaine addiction, the Secret Service closed its investigation without identifying a suspect.
At the time, President Donald Trump publicly questioned the integrity of the investigation, demanding transparency over how cocaine was found inside one of the most secure buildings in the country.
In addition to the reopened cases, Bongino confirmed that the FBI is expanding its internal reform teams.
“We will have new hires for our reform teams on board by next week,” he wrote.
“This will help us both in doubling down on our reform agenda.”
Thanks for following this account and allowing us to update you about what we’re doing at your FBI. A few updates:-The Director and I will have most of our incoming reform teams in place by next week. The hiring process can take a little bit of time, but we are approaching that…

The developments come as the Trump administration continues efforts to overhaul and restructure multiple federal law enforcement agencies.
Bongino’s announcement follows ongoing public pressure for accountability and reform across the Department of Justice and the intelligence community.
