Beyoncé officially launched her Cowboy Carter tour Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, but despite the success of her latest album, early reports indicate that ticket sales have not matched the momentum of her previous stadium tours.

The Cowboy Carter tour, which spans 32 stadiums across the United States and Europe and concludes in Las Vegas on July 26, began with thousands of seats still available just hours before opening night.

According to seat maps on Ticketmaster last week, over 3,000 seats remained unsold at SoFi Stadium, with large numbers still available shortly before the concert started.

An insider speaking to the Daily Caller News Foundation attributed much of the issue to ticket resellers purchasing large quantities of tickets and then attempting to resell them at significantly higher prices.

The insider noted that Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z remain optimistic that more fans would purchase tickets if resale prices fall.

“Ticket prices could be slashed the evening of some dates to fill the seats if they are noticeably empty,” the source added.

Following the tour’s announcement in February, many fans voiced frustration over high ticket prices, with seats ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars.

In recent days, some fans have reported finding resale tickets for as low as $20 in the upper levels of SoFi Stadium, even comparing the cost to a McDonald’s Minecraft-themed Big Mac meal priced at $21.39.

Social media users commented on the situation, with some criticizing the original ticket prices.

One user remarked, “LMAO WHAT A FLOP!!” while another said, “As a Beyhive I’m really happy that this happened, cause the prices were absolutely ridiculous in the first place.”

Compounding speculation about ticket sales, some attendees reported being moved by the production team to different seating sections due to obstructed views.

This led others to question whether low turnout, rather than production logistics, prompted the seat changes.

Despite the reports, the tour’s promoter Live Nation confirmed to Billboard that the Cowboy Carter tour is 94 percent sold out across all scheduled dates.

In addition to ticket pricing, some observers have pointed to Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s previous association with embattled music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs as a possible factor affecting public perception.

Combs is currently detained in Brooklyn, awaiting a trial on charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering, allegations he denies.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z faced scrutiny in December when a lawsuit alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy had jointly assaulted a minor in 2000.

Jay-Z denied the claim, and the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice two months later, a move hailed by Jay-Z as a “victory.”

While those close to Beyoncé acknowledge concerns that the association with Combs could have influenced casual listeners’ willingness to support the tour, insiders maintain that Beyoncé herself remains focused on her fans.

“Beyoncé isn’t worried about her fans not supporting her,” one source said, “but some close to her are concerned about how casual listeners may have responded to the association with Diddy.”

Despite the challenges surrounding the launch of the Cowboy Carter tour, Beyoncé’s recent musical success remains notable.

Her Cowboy Carter album, released in March, topped the Billboard 200 and produced the No. 1 single “Texas Hold ‘Em” on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Country chart.

She also made history at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first Black woman to win Best Country Album and securing Album of the Year.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, held prior to Cowboy Carter, grossed $579 million, placing it among the ten highest-grossing tours in history.
