Former television host and comedian Rosie O’Donnell resurfaced in the media Friday with new claims that Elon Musk somehow “stole” the 2024 U.S. presidential election for President Donald Trump.

Now a resident of Ireland, O’Donnell made the comments during her first television interview since leaving the United States.

O’Donnell appeared on The Late Late Show with Irish host Patrick Kielty, where she offered unsubstantiated claims about the integrity of the 2024 election.

According to a report by The Wrap, O’Donnell speculated that Musk’s ownership of the social media platform X gave him the ability to influence election results nationwide.

“I question why for the first time in America history a president has won every swing state and is also best friends and his largest donor was a man who owns and runs the internet,” O’Donnell said during the interview.

She continued, “So, I hope that would be investigated. And that we would see whether it was an anomaly or it was something else that happened on election night in America when Kamala Harris was filling up stadiums with people who supported her and Donald Trump was not able to do that.”

O’Donnell further stated, “So, it’s curious to me and as an American and a believer in democracy, I would hope that we would be able to look at all of the reasons why this happened in our country.”

The remarks come after a series of public posts by O’Donnell in early March, when she revealed she had officially relocated to Ireland.

In a video shared on social media, she cited political frustration as her main reason for leaving the U.S., specifically naming President Trump as a factor in her decision.

“It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know,” O’Donnell said in the video.

“I think about everyone every day and the United States of America. And I am hoping that we can turn things around, counting on you, all of you, to do what’s right. And I think deep down inside, we all know what that is,” she added.

O’Donnell has been a vocal critic of Trump for years and frequently posts political commentary to her social media accounts.

Her latest allegations concerning the election and Elon Musk’s involvement drew swift reaction online, with many pointing to her lack of evidence and continued promotion of conspiracy theories.

While residing abroad, O’Donnell’s political commentary has remained focused on the U.S. She has not provided any verifiable proof for the claims she made on Irish television regarding the 2024 election, which saw President Trump re-elected after winning every key swing state.

Musk, who was appointed chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by President Trump in November, has not responded publicly to O’Donnell’s accusations.

The DOGE agency, created via executive order in January, has since reported over $115 billion in federal savings.

As of now, no official investigation has been launched into O’Donnell’s claims.
