Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Chief Lee Zeldin announced Tuesday evening that the Biden-Harris administration’s $20 billion in climate grants has been officially terminated.
The grants, issued under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), had been allocated to eight nonprofit organizations, but Zeldin stated the funds were awarded with limited oversight and rushed distribution before President Donald Trump’s return to office.
Zeldin, who was appointed by President Trump, emphasized his commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars are properly managed.

“It is my commitment to President Trump, Congress, and you, that EPA will be an exceptional steward of your tax dollars. I’ll have it no other way!” Zeldin said in his statement.
Zeldin had previously taken steps to freeze the $20 billion in grants, working with Citibank to halt the funds that had been earmarked for the nonprofits.
According to an Associated Press report, the money had been awarded to the Coalition for Green Capital, Climate United Fund, Power Forward Communities, Opportunity Finance Network, Inclusiv, and the Justice Climate Fund.
On Tuesday, Zeldin confirmed that each of the eight nonprofits had been notified that their grants were officially terminated.
Update: @EPA just notified 8 recipients of $20 BILLION in Biden EPA “gold bars” that their grants have been TERMINATED!

Zeldin’s move follows an undercover investigation by Project Veritas, which published video footage in December revealing how Biden-era EPA officials rushed to distribute taxpayer dollars before the Trump administration took office.
In the footage, Brent Efron, a special advisor at the EPA and key figure in implementing Biden’s climate policies, admitted that the agency was racing to allocate funds before the administration changed.
“Now it’s how to get the money out as fast as possible before they [Trump Administration] come in… It truly feels like we’re on the Titanic or throwing gold bar off the top edge,” Efron said in the recording.

Zeldin previously vowed to investigate what he called a “scheme” to funnel taxpayer money into climate initiatives with reduced transparency.
“Following this revelation, during my meetings with members of Congress, I made a very important commitment to them and to the American people,” Zeldin said.
“My awesome team at the EPA has found the gold bars. Shockingly, roughly $20 billion of your tax dollars were parked at an outside financial institution by the Biden EPA,” he continued.
“This scheme was the first of its kind in EPA history and it was purposely designed to obligate all of the money in a rush job with reduced oversight.”
According to Zeldin, the $20 billion was allocated to just eight entities, which were responsible for distributing the funds to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other groups at their discretion.
“Just under $7 billion was sent to one entity called the Climate United Fund,” Zeldin revealed.
Zeldin has now called for the immediate termination of the financial agent agreement with the bank holding the funds and demanded that all remaining money be returned.
“The financial agent agreement with the bank needs to be instantly terminated, and the bank must immediately return all the gold bars that the Biden Administration tossed off the Titanic,” he said.

Zeldin confirmed that the EPA will now take control of the funds and conduct a thorough review of how the money was used.
He also announced plans to refer the matter to the Inspector General’s Office and work with the Justice Department on further investigation.
