ActBlue, the leading Democratic fundraising platform, is facing growing scrutiny after House Republicans demanded transparency regarding a series of suspicious transactions allegedly linked to organizations with ties to U.S.-sanctioned terrorists.

In a letter sent this week, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) called on ActBlue executives to disclose whether they knowingly processed donations from third-party groups connected to organizations under U.S. sanctions.

“I write to raise concerns regarding the progressive fundraising organization ActBlue – as well as its charitable arm ActBlue Charities – and credible allegations of the provision of fundraising services and payment processing for terror-linked organizations and nonprofits,” Issa wrote.

He further urged the Department of the Treasury to investigate whether ActBlue Charities “had reason to know it was handling payments that could support terror.”

Among the flagged donations were contributions from the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, a George Soros-linked organization that has been associated with anti-Israel protests.

According to Issa, ActBlue’s lack of due diligence in vetting donors raises serious concerns about its compliance with federal laws prohibiting financial transactions benefiting terror-related entities.

“Neither ActBlue Charities – nor its parent organization ActBlue – have any reliable process to vet users of their platforms for links to terrorism, simply ignore their obligations under the law, and are actively abetting this collaboration,” Issa wrote.

“Terror financing is an extremely serious crime, and organizations cannot be given a free pass for failed due diligence, or worse, the enabling of terrorism.”

Issa also suggested that the transactions in question “may also constitute money-laundering crimes”.

“The flagrant inability of progressive groups to address the appearance of skirting a full range of our laws — or call out the evils of Hamas and the BDS movement — raises critical questions if the activities and coalition building of ActBlue and ActBlue Charities are in reality part of a wider commitment to financing and facilitating attacks on Israel and Jewish people in America and around the globe,” Issa added.

This latest inquiry follows a House Republican subpoena of U.S. Treasury records last year, which sought to determine whether ActBlue had accepted fraudulent payments.

At the time, Republican lawmakers raised concerns that ActBlue’s fundraising model could be exploited for illicit financial activities.

The scrutiny comes as ActBlue faces internal turmoil, with a series of high-profile resignations.

The departures prompted two unions representing ActBlue employees to send a letter to the platform’s board of directors, warning of instability within the organization.

The letter described an “alarming pattern” of staff departures that “eroded our confidence in the stability of the organization.”

“Those of us who work with our legal team in our day-to-day do not have clear direction on how to proceed with our work in their absence,” the letter stated.

Megan Hughes, a spokesperson for ActBlue, addressed the concerns in a statement:

“Like many organizations, as we undergo some transition heading into this new election cycle, we are focused on ensuring we have a strong team in place. We greatly appreciate the contributions of our incredible team members and remain deeply committed to the success of our organization and our mission to enable grassroots supporters to make their voices heard.”

With allegations mounting, ActBlue is now under pressure to fully disclose its financial records and prove it has taken steps to prevent illicit donations from reaching its platform.

Congressional Republicans are expected to push for further oversight and potential legal action should ActBlue fail to provide a satisfactory response.
