During a Fox News segment with host Kevin Corke, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) raised concerns over the financial burden on American taxpayers, particularly in Tennessee, while taxpayer dollars continue to be sent overseas—including to adversaries.
Burchett revealed that he uncovered $40 million in U.S. funds directed to the Taliban and criticized the lack of action from Senate Democrats in addressing the issue.
Corke opened the discussion by asking Burchett, “How did we end up where we are?”

Burchett responded by pointing to the significant tax burden faced by Tennesseans and the frustration that arises when those funds are sent abroad.

“Well, that’s an excellent question. And when you see people here in Tennessee paying 50% of their income to state, federal, and local taxes, and, you know, through everything else, fees and everything else, and then they see us sending literally billions overseas to our enemies,” Burchett said.
The congressman then revealed that he had uncovered $40 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars sent to the Taliban, crediting a former Navy SEAL for bringing the information to his attention.
“I uncovered $40 million going to the Taliban, a guy named Sean Ryan over in Middle Tennessee, former Navy SEAL podcaster, he and another guy named Legend, brought this to my attention,” Burchett stated.

Burchett criticized Senate Democrats for refusing to take action on the matter, despite unanimous approval in the House.
“Last term, I could not even get the Democrats to bring it up in the Senate. It passed unanimously in the House, not even a question, because they’re going to have to admit they made a mistake, and they continuously made a mistake, and they did it on purpose, is the worst part about it,” he said.
Burchett suggested that a growing paper trail will expose the misuse of government funds, leading to nervousness among Washington politicians and a wave of retirements.
“And this graft that you’re seeing, and that’s 100% what it is, I think you’re going to see a paper trail come back to Washington, DC, and that’s why I think a lot of people are nervous, and you’ll see a lot of retirements, because they are stealing from the American taxpayer, and now they’ve got their hand caught in a cookie jar,” Burchett stated.
He also linked the recent political attacks on figures like Elon Musk to the exposure of financial misconduct.
“And all they can do is attack Elon Musk,” he added.

Burchett’s comments reflect a broader concern among conservatives over the allocation of taxpayer funds, particularly as Americans face rising costs and a heavy tax burden.
His remarks come amid increasing scrutiny of government spending and a push for greater accountability regarding where U.S. tax dollars are being sent.
