A newly uncovered email reveals that former CIA Director John Brennan and other intelligence officials deliberately coordinated efforts to help then-candidate Joe Biden dismiss the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation just days before the 2020 election.

The email, sent by former CIA Acting Director Mike Morell to Brennan on October 19, 2020, explicitly states that the now-infamous letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials was crafted to provide Biden with a “talking point” to counter then-President Donald Trump in an upcoming debate.

The letter, which was widely cited by the media and used by Biden in his final debate against Trump, falsely suggested that Hunter Biden’s laptop had the “hallmarks” of a Russian disinformation campaign.

This claim was used as justification by social media platforms to suppress the New York Post’s reporting, preventing millions of Americans from seeing information that could have influenced their vote.

In the email, Morell asked Brennan if he would sign the letter, writing that the intent was to assist the Biden campaign ahead of the debate.

“Trying to give the [Biden] campaign, particularly during the debate on Thursday, a talking point to push back on Trump on this,” Morell wrote.

Brennan responded within 20 minutes, agreeing to sign the letter and calling it a “good initiative.”

Despite claims by the letter’s signers that they never definitively called the laptop Russian disinformation, the newly revealed email confirms their political motives.

At the time, the Department of Justice had already verified the authenticity of the laptop, meaning intelligence officials knowingly misled the public.

During the October 22, 2020, presidential debate, Biden used the intelligence letter to dismiss Trump’s attacks regarding Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.

“Look, there are 50 former National Intelligence folks who said that what this, he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan,” Biden said.

“They have said that this has all the characteristics—four—five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes it except him, his, and his good friend Rudy Giuliani.”

Biden’s comments, backed by the intelligence officials’ letter, shaped the media’s narrative and helped justify Big Tech’s suppression of the laptop story, which had been first reported by the New York Post just weeks before the election.

On his first day back in office, President Trump issued an executive order revoking the security clearances of the 51 former intelligence officials involved in the letter.

The order stated:

“In the closing weeks of the 2020 Presidential campaign, at least 51 former intelligence officials coordinated with the Biden campaign to issue a letter discrediting the reporting that President Joseph R. Biden’s son had abandoned his laptop at a computer repair business. Signatories of the letter falsely suggested that the news story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”

Among those stripped of their clearances were former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director Michael Hayden, former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, and Brennan.

The order also placed new restrictions on intelligence officials, barring them from using classified information for personal book deals and prohibiting them from interfering in future elections.

Further reports indicate that Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was an advisor to Biden’s campaign at the time, played a role in orchestrating the letter’s release.

His involvement adds another layer of coordination between the Biden campaign and former intelligence officials in an effort to discredit damaging information.

With the latest revelations, the leaked email serves as further confirmation that the intelligence letter was not an independent assessment but a strategic move to assist Biden’s election campaign.

The revocation of security clearances marks a direct response to what has been described as an effort to manipulate public perception and interfere in the 2020 election.
