A salon owner in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is experiencing fallout after calling supporters of President-elect Donald Trump “racist, homophobic, and misogynistic” in a social media post.

The comments have led to several clients cutting ties with her business.

Tiffney Prickett, the owner of Voiage Salon, admitted she is “suffering the consequences of my own action” in a TikTok video posted shortly after the November election.

In the video, Prickett described how one long-time client of 15 years demanded a refund for pre-purchased gift cards following her public remarks.

“So this is me suffering the consequences of my own action,” Prickett said in the video.

“I just had a client send her husband into my salon and demand a refund for gift cards — pre-purchased — because of my stance that if you support a racist, homophobic, misogynist rapist, and you’re okay with those things because you supported them, that you are in fact those things.”

Prickett acknowledged the loss of this client, describing her as someone who had been “very good” to her over the years, even giving her gifts and inviting her to family events.

“I didn’t want to deal with them anyway because I knew that that whole family were Trump supporters,” Prickett added. “I’ve been doing her for 15 years, I’ve been to her family functions and family events. She’s given me gifts over the years. She was a very good client.”

Despite the backlash, Prickett said she stands by her comments, emphasizing that her issue was not with Republicans but with Trump supporters.

“I don’t have a problem with you being a Republican. I have a problem with you wanting to strip human rights away from people,” she explained. “I will stand up for human rights and suffer those consequences.”

In a follow-up TikTok video, Prickett revealed that more clients had canceled their appointments in response to her comments.

“They’re dropping like flies,” she said. “I lost another one of my clients today who clearly was a Trump supporter.”

Prickett also expressed her willingness to face the financial repercussions of her statements, saying she would “rather go work at Chipotle” than have Trump supporters feel comfortable at her salon.

“So, again I’m reaping what I sow,” she added. “I’m suffering the consequences of my own actions. But I stand by what I said.”

The controversy has led to the Voiage Salon’s website being set to “private,” making it inaccessible to the public.

Prickett’s remarks have ignited debate on social media, with some users supporting her stance while others criticize her for alienating customers and potentially harming her business.

The situation underscores the deep political divisions in the U.S. and the challenges faced by small business owners navigating public and personal expression in a polarized climate.

While Prickett maintains her resolve, the loss of long-term clients and growing public backlash could have lasting effects on her business and reputation in the tight-knit community of Coeur d’Alene.
