Ron Paul, a long-time Libertarian favorite, has firmly aligned himself with Donald Trump and, in particular, J.D. Vance, endorsing the direction of Trump’s campaign.

Amid a sea of supporters, vice-presidential nominee JD Vance takes the stage during a rally at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

As reported by Red State, the 89-year-old former Texas congressman has not only voiced support but also relishes in watching the corporate media grapple with its inability to derail Trump’s momentum.

Recently, Paul even floated the idea of joining forces with Elon Musk in what Musk jokingly calls the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE).

Musk, who has expressed interest in helping Trump’s second administration slim down the federal government, sees a vision of a more efficient, less costly system. When Musk mentioned Paul’s name, the former congressman quickly responded on X, saying he’d be “happy to talk” about it.

That simple exchange set off a wave of support and excitement across social media, with memes flooding in and fueling the buzz.

In a video shared on X, Paul addressed the growing hype around his potential involvement with Musk, noting that “ideas are back in this campaign” thanks to figures like Musk and Vance.

According to Paul, this presidential race represents a pivotal moment in history, although he pointed out that both major campaigns have been heavy on rhetoric and light on substance.

“It was a campaign of name-calling and bullets,” he remarked, criticizing one candidate for dodging media interactions altogether, while the other faced two assassination attempts and responded with pointed rhetoric aimed at an increasingly frustrated public.

Paul didn’t hold back when it came to the corporate media. He accused them of showing blatant favoritism toward Kamala Harris, even citing a Media Research Center study showing unprecedented positive coverage of Harris.

During a recent debate between Trump and Harris, Paul highlighted a particular moment when moderators fact-checked Trump but let Harris slide. To add to the irony, the fact-check itself turned out to be inaccurate—a tactic Paul sees as all too familiar in the mainstream media’s playbook.

Paul also praised J.D. Vance for his willingness to call out the Federal Reserve, an institution Paul has long criticized. Vance’s public acknowledgment that the Federal Reserve isn’t quite the “benevolent force” it’s often portrayed as resonated deeply with Paul and his supporters.

As the memes kept coming, Musk and Paul exchanged lighthearted banter on X, gathering millions of views. Musk has made it clear he’d love to work with Paul in some capacity, and while Paul hinted he’s not looking for a new role, he’s open to advising on ways to shift America off its current unsustainable path.

“While the last thing I am looking for is another job, I am encouraged by the outpouring of support and happy to help any effort to correct the wrong path we have been going down, a path toward total bankruptcy,” Paul remarked.

Paul saved his final thoughts for the mainstream media’s decline, calling it “encouraging” and “well-earned.” He pointed out that his and Musk’s viral meme garnered 50 million views—a stark contrast to the traditional media’s waning influence.

“An alternative way of reporting and analyzing the events of our time is emerging on the ruin of the legacy media, and it’s driving them insane,” Paul declared with a note of satisfaction. “Good!”

With Paul backing Trump and Musk’s vision, his support might just reassure skeptical Libertarians, adding to the growing base of Trump supporters ahead of a crucial election.
