Former President Donald Trump unveiled a new initiative, “Operation Aurora,” during a rally in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, aimed at tackling criminal networks operating within the United States.
Trump’s announcement specifically targeted the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang, which has infiltrated the U.S. amid the ongoing border crisis.

Trump explained that, if elected president, he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to dismantle and remove criminal networks, such as the TdA gang, from U.S. soil.
He also promised to seal the southern border and halt the surge of illegal immigration, which he described as an “invasion.”
“In honor of Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley—beautiful Laken—Rachel Morin, and all of the others that are dead, and/or mortally wounded at the hands of migrants who should never have been allowed into our country, I’m announcing today that upon taking office, we will have an Operation Aurora at the federal level to expedite the removals of these savage gangs,” Trump declared.
We are now known, all throughout the world, as OCCUPIED AMERICA…But to everyone here in Colorado and all across our nation, I make you this vow: November 5th, 2024 will be LIBERATION DAY in America. I will rescue Aurora and every town that has been invaded and conquered—and we…

He emphasized that the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a long-standing law, would serve as the legal basis for this effort.
The former president vowed that “every migrant criminal network operating on American soil” would be targeted and dismantled under his plan, stressing that it would be a major national initiative.

Trump cited recently published Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data, revealing that over 13,000 illegal immigrants convicted of murder had been allowed into the U.S., underscoring the urgency of his proposal.
As reported by Fox News and highlighted by Trump, ICE disclosed in a letter to Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) that as of July 2024, 662,566 noncitizens with criminal records were on the agency’s national docket. Among them, 435,719 were convicted criminals, including 13,099 convicted of murder.
Trump also referenced a New York Times article detailing how TdA gang members had crossed the U.S. border and were involved in a wide range of criminal activities, including drug trafficking, human smuggling, and violent crimes.
The former president warned that the gang was “peddling drugs, guns, and women” across the nation and noted that TdA members had even been given the green light to attack U.S. law enforcement.
“In Colorado, the gang even got a green light to shoot police officers,” Trump said, quoting the New York Times. “Did you know that the gang got the okay to kill your police?”

The Tren de Aragua, a notorious transnational crime organization from Venezuela, has gained a foothold in various U.S. cities, including Miami, Atlanta, and Dallas. The gang is known for committing crimes such as homicide, abduction, extortion, and human trafficking.
Breitbart News previously reported that U.S. authorities have confirmed the presence of TdA members in several cities.
In Chicago, officials from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated that TdA members had been present in the city since October 2023.
In response to the growing threat posed by the TdA, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) recently designated the gang as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of TdA members. Abbott’s actions came after increased reports of criminal activities by the gang in various U.S. cities.
As Trump continues his campaign for the White House, “Operation Aurora” is set to become a central part of his platform to address illegal immigration and national security, with a focus on dismantling dangerous criminal networks like the Tren de Aragua.
