Former First Lady Michelle Obama is ramping up efforts to boost voter turnout in key battleground states, with a focus on supporting Kamala Harris’s campaign.
Michelle, through her organization, When We All Vote, announced a series of “Party at the Polls” events designed to energize and engage young voters ahead of the upcoming election.
These events, set to take place in major cities like Phoenix, Atlanta, and Las Vegas, will feature drag performers and musicians, aiming to drive early voting and encourage voter participation.

On October 15, Obama shared details of the upcoming events via social media. “Georgia! I’m excited to join @WhenWeAllVote for a rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 29!” she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “With early voting happening right now – it’s important that folks make a plan to vote by Election Day.”

The series of events will include a performance by drag queens from the popular show RuPaul’s Drag Race and will take place in Phoenix on October 18, followed by another event in Nevada on October 29.

Additionally, When We All Vote will be involved in Georgia’s “ONE Musicfest” from October 26-27, with performances by well-known artists like Cardi B and Nelly.
While When We All Vote claims its efforts are nonpartisan, some critics have raised concerns about the true motives behind the events.
Journalist Stephen Kokx, writing for LifeSiteNews, argued that the organization’s initiatives are aimed at energizing Democratic voters, particularly those with limited political engagement. “The ‘nonpartisan’ group seeks to promote voter registration, but in reality, it’s a front organization designed to entice low-information Democratic voters to cast their ballots by offering them free food at locations near voting stations,” Kokx wrote.
This isn’t the first time drag queens have been involved in supporting Kamala Harris.
Earlier in the election cycle, a group called “Drag Queens for Kamala” released a music video endorsing Harris.
The video featured drag queens singing and dancing in a tribute to Harris, claiming she would work to pass important legislation protecting LGBTQ+ rights.
In the video, one of the performers sang, “She’ll get bills passed in Congress that’ll protect me and you,” while another added, “Black, white, Latino or LGBTQ,” in a remix of Peggy Lee’s jazz single “I’m a Woman.”

These events and endorsements reflect a broader push by the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to support Harris.
Earlier this year, over 1,100 LGBTQ+ political leaders and activists endorsed Harris’s campaign for president. Notable organizations such as Equality California, the LGBTQ Victory Fund, the Human Rights Campaign, and the National LGBTQ Task Force were among the signatories of an open letter voicing their support for Harris.
“As advocates, elected officials, organizations, and community leaders serving millions of LGBTQ+ Americans and our allies across the country, we urge you to join us in this historic moment to advance equality by supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign for president,” the letter stated.

The signatories highlighted Harris’s long-standing commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, citing her efforts in California to fight hate crimes, her opposition to the “gay and transgender panic defense,” and her early support for marriage equality by refusing to defend Proposition 8, a 2008 California ballot initiative that sought to ban same-sex marriage.
