Ryan Wesley Routh, who is currently under investigation for a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, has a disturbing past involving radical ideas and violent rhetoric.

In 2023, Routh co-authored a memoir with his fiancée, Kathleen Schaffer, titled “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War: The Fatal Flaw of Democracy, World Abandonment, and the Global Citizen-Taiwan, Afghanistan, North Korea, and the End of Humanity.” This book advocates for Ukraine’s victory over Russia in what Routh refers to as an “unwinnable war” and takes some dark turns in discussing political figures, including Trump, as reported by The Post Millennial.

Routh makes no secret of his contempt for Trump, writing with inflammatory language. He shockingly admitted in the book that he misjudged the former president, apologizing to Iran and essentially inviting the assassination of Trump, writing, “You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me.”

This rhetoric is nothing short of alarming, considering that Routh has now been apprehended after allegedly attempting to assassinate Trump during a golf game in Florida.

The incident occurred at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course when U.S. Secret Service agents noticed a rifle’s barrel sticking through a fence approximately 300-500 yards away. The agents quickly opened fire on Routh, who attempted to flee but was captured shortly after in a black Nissan.

Upon searching the scene, authorities found a GoPro camera, two backpacks, and an AR-style rifle hidden in nearby trees. Notably, this marked the second attempt on Trump’s life in two months.

Routh’s fixation on Ukraine and disdain for Trump is not new. He has been an active recruiter for foreign fighters in Ukraine, even being featured by The New York Times for his efforts.

Routh has repeatedly claimed he’s willing to die for Ukraine, even going as far as suggesting former Afghan soldiers should be enlisted to fight against Russia. He’s also financially supported progressive causes and Democratic candidates since 2019, aligning himself with far-left ideas.

In interviews, Routh’s son, Oran, attempted to downplay his father’s actions, saying that Routh is not a violent man, but simply a “hard worker” and a “great dad.”

However, his past remarks tell a different story. Routh has openly insulted Trump on social media and in his book, with comments like,  “I and the world hoped that President Trump would be different and better than the candidate, but we all were greatly disappointment and it seems you are getting worse and devolving; are you retarded; I will be glad when you gone.”

This entire incident paints a troubling picture of a man driven by extremist ideas and an obsession with removing Trump from the political scene.
