Minnesota Governor Tim Walz seems to have taken a break from his role as a leader to engage in what can only be described as a juvenile jab at Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.
After a supposedly awkward donut shop visit involving Vance in Valdosta, Georgia, Walz and his allies have found yet another reason to troll the Republican senator, turning it into a weird celebration of pastries, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
The original incident happened on August 22, when Vance, accompanied by Secret Service agents and team members, stopped by a bakery.

A nervous employee requested to stay off camera while Vance made small talk and purchased donuts. The senator later expressed sympathy for the woman, saying she seemed “terrified.”
Apparently, this harmless moment wasn’t going to go unnoticed by Walz and his cronies.
Fast forward to Walz’s recent stop at Cherry Hill Orchards and Farm in Pennsylvania. While on the campaign trail, Walz seized the opportunity to take a swipe at Vance. After hearing about the donuts available at the shop, Walz threw in a snide comment, “I have no problem picking out donuts,” as if this were some major political achievement.
Not one to miss out on the fun, Minnesota Democrat Senator Tina Smith chimed in. On Wednesday, Smith posted a photo of herself and Walz in front of a bakery called Daube’s Cakes, continuing the trolling of Vance.
She gleefully added, “Can confirm!” to her post, as if that clinched the argument.

But there’s a glaring issue: Daube’s Bakery shut down permanently in June 2020, a direct result of Walz’s own draconian lockdown measures during the height of COVID-19.
As governor, Walz enforced overreaching policies that crushed small businesses across Minnesota. Many, like Daube’s, had no choice but to close their doors for good.
Meanwhile, children suffered severe learning loss due to extended school shutdowns. X (formerly Twitter) users were quick to remind Walz and Smith of the irony in their photo, pointing out that the bakery they stood in front of no longer exists thanks to the very policies Walz pushed.
It turns out the bakery that Sen. Tina Smith and Tim Walz are at in this photo, Daube's Cakes, closed its doors for good after over 30 years in June 2020 due to Walz' covid lockdowns https://t.co/6CoAfwXl89

Ah yes, another fine business killed in the @Tim_Walz mishandling of COVID. pic.twitter.com/l3po9S83zU

It’s quite the embarrassing misstep for Walz and Smith, but don’t expect much reflection from them. It seems they’re more interested in donuts than in addressing the fallout of their failed leadership.
