Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president just minutes after the Democratic nominee’s debate with former President Donald Trump, igniting a wave of reactions on social media.

Swift, who has been increasingly vocal about her political views in recent years, took to Instagram to express her support for Harris, saying the vice president aligns with the values and causes she believes in.

“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote in her post.

She emphasized that she had done her own research and urged her 283 million followers to do the same before making their own voting decisions. “Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” Swift added, while encouraging first-time voters to register and participate early in the election.

Swift signed off the post as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” a nod to a 2021 comment by Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance, who referred to “childless cat ladies” in a critical statement about Democratic leadership. The comment from Vance, who is Trump’s running mate, has been a recurring reference for Swift and her supporters.

The post quickly gained traction, accumulating over 7 million likes overnight. But it also got roasted on X due to the current conversation around pets allegedly being eaten by Haitian illegal aliens in Ohio.
